Does anyone know of an app,
Not an app, but do a comparison with someone like Compare the Market or Confused and generally they'll hammer you with emails around 30 days before your renewal date.

Not an app but I just put a recurring appointment in my calendar. Seems you get the best price if you buy well in advance.

I've not used it personally, but the Money Saving Expert app has a feature to do this. I'm about to install and give it a go

Good shout I'll have a look

You should have a cooling-off period where you can cancel at no cost, even for auto-renewals. maybe 14 days?

To be fair had a look around and most places are coming out around the same price point give or take. Have just noticed that talktalk haven't taken a payment in nearly a year and a half. Might have to change provider incase they catch up.

Snoop seem to have what I need - thanks for the other options.

so it auto renewed.
I think you still get a cooling off period.

I don't know if I get a cooling off period on reposts though.

Chromebook? I find them much more usable than a tablet with similar weight and battery life.

Fire + toolbox
Edit Fire Max 11 for £135 looks good. Altho it sounds like tool box is less extensive than it was https://xdaforums.com/t/windows-linux-tool-fire-toolbox-v32-4.3889604/

My Pixel 4a is getting on a bit now and is starting to have a few issues (crap battery life, issues with charging etc) so I'm looking for a new phone. My last couple of phones have been Pixels and I haven't had any complaints. Is there anything worth looking at other than a Pixel 8 (potential bumps in screen aside)? It's currently the same monthly price on contract as my current phone and I'd rather not spend any more so the pro is out of the window.

Scrap that, my Pixel 4a is the same price with unlimited data as the 8 is with 1gb. The Pixel 7 with 25gb is about the same as I'm paying now. Is the 8 worth the extra £200ish over 2 years?

Personally, I would go for the 7.
I'm on a 6a currently which replaced a 4. it's fine, does the job.
-
• #22818
Yeah, from a bit more reading the differences between the two seem pretty minimal and none of the features that the 8 has that the 7 doesn't seem important to me (more AI, more features for photo editing etc).
I read one article that mentioned that the 7 will only be supported until 2025 and the 8 will be supported until 2030 which would sway me if accurate. Although my 4a is a few years old and seems to get updates still so not sure how believable the 7 only getting updates for another couple of years is.
I tend to keep my phones for as long as I can so wouldn't want to buy something that was made to be obsolete in a couple of years. -

Looks like that is kind of true although the 7 will still get security updates to 2027
https://support.google.com/nexus/answer/4457705?hl=en#zippy=%2Cpixel-a-pixel-pixel-pro-pixel-a-pixel-pixel-pro-pixel-fold%2Cpixel-proThe differences between different android versions seems pretty minimal now
-
• #22820
Yeah, most of them seem to be security updates anyway. I'll probably keep my 4a until it's unusable and panic buy whatever seems like a good deal then anyway. Nearly got carried away by the idea of a shiny new thing for the sake of it. That's what bikes are for.

Cheers for this!
Used the Fire toolbox on the Kindle Fire we got for our kid, and after scraping the amzon shit I realised I needed a new launcher.
Also if anyone else has had any issues with getting the camera to work after using the Fire Toolbox let me know how you fixed it.

My Pixel 4a became unusable quicker than expected so I've now got a Pixel 8 (worked out cheaper than the 7 with an offer). I'm pretty clumsy so I've got a decent case already. Any suggestions for a decent screen protector or brand of screen protector?
-
• #22824
I ordered a Snakehive case which came with a screen protector and a camera lens protector (also sold separately). Not sure sticking something over the camera is a good idea but having credit cards rubbing against my pixel 4 screen left 3 rows of tiny scratches so I'll be using the screen protector

I just had a look, weirdly they don't seem to sell a screen protector individually. Only as a bundle with a case and a camera cover!
Does anyone know of an app, that I could long when I various insurance are coming up for expiry , got completely stung on my car motoring insurance, as I'd noted down the date incorrectly so it auto renewed.
