  • There was quite a bit of moaning on some other threadbabout shutting/ not shutting train doors
It put me in mind of when trains were great and i loved them
Daily ride and back to art school involved regular old compartment carriages, with individual doors to open and shut, and later also guard van bike store and ride along side
Then ‘milk train’ (or possibly mail train?) journey from the West Country to Paddington that arrived at about 7am after about 6+ hours of every station stop but then I’m also 150 years old so none of this has any relevance now but trains used to be great #faredodger#fairenough

  • I remember when i moved to Dorset in 2000 and would get the old rattler up to Waterloo.
Had a smoking carriage that was horrific (and I was a smoker)

Late night ones home, I would lean out of the window smoking (providing it was an empty train)
