Plykea are having an online offcut sale on 6th December, specifically for desk tops. Think I might try and snag one for the office.

This is nice. Nothing new, but looks liveable for a change.

Can anyone id this shelving system? I have lots of it, that came from a bankrupt design co in 1999. It is seriously heavy-duty!

Looks like something from a shopfitters?

I think it's called Octa-link or Octa-something. Octa-norm?
-
• #5334
Octa- sounds plausible because there are 8 sockets in two circumferences
-
• #5335
Octanorm does exist but none of its current offerings resembles this

Livible? Where are his bikes?

I want this house, just maybe not in Dudley.

I reckon there is loads of room for a pair of Bromptons and a couple of full-size bikes. I mean do they really need a bed?

That's beautiful. Some pretty impressive cracks in the mosaic bathroom though.

Right thread?
Just won ninety 30cm x 30cm x 25mm thick real terrazzo tiles on eBay for £50.
Thinking of having some laid outside the front door (after sorting out a concrete slab).

nothing to add but that's a great price and looking forward to seeing how that goes

I came across loads of genuine terrazzo just outside Glasgow, £3 a tile! : https://www.gumtree.com/p/ceramic-tiles/terrazzo-floor-tiles-/1464909039
Trying to convince myself I can use them for something

Looks like a great plan. Did you consider extending the area of the base so it sits outside the roof as well? Could make for a bit of a less boxy feel and a softer blend between outside and entrance (if that makes sense)

That’s a great idea actually, we’d need to break up some concrete on the driveway ( which will be gravel garden) in the future.
Need to find someone to build the porch though! -

Only question I’d have would be around whether it will be quite slippery (I don’t know) . Visually will look nice against the orange. Quite of lot of different materials going on

Will you be pouring the slab yourself? I have to do a similar sized one for similar reasons at our back door
-

The builders we had in to do our renovation/ extension said it’s pretty easy… ! They’re working on another house up the road so might ask them to check what I’m doing.
That said I’m a bit nervous about doing it myself and may ask them how much to it for cash. -

yeah, I both have the feeling it's easy and also I could totally it up and be left with a reinforced slab I have to break out. As far as I can tell you put 50mm, throw in a grid of steels, and do another 50mm on top. I'm most concerned about getting the level right so the tiles meet the door level.
Do you know if you're meant to build the drop for rain runoff into the slab or in laying the tiles?
@Colin_the_Bald is probably the right person to ask - Colin, do you do jobs in London's famous London?
this is the spathroom
Oh do fuck off.
