  • Had one from Bread Ahead at lunchtime. Big boy. Would be better warmed up. Lots of filling. pastry a little crisp and not buttery enough. Good tho

  • in the absence of either a microwave or an air fryer i usually heat up my mincers perched over toaster slots, sometimes with a bowl over the top to catch and distribute heat. i get good results with this, don’t like a cold mincer. Anyone else do this?

  • No, but as a sans microwave/air fryer person, I'm going to try it now!

    Metal case off I assume?

  • Um, i’ve done both, both have plusses

  • Tried these today as currently eliminating gluten. Would rather have that sweet gluteny pastry and have dire digestive issues than eat another one of these mingers. Fucking spendy too.

  • Get down to sunflour bakery on cally Rd - got both shortcrust and viennese options. Tried the latter and it was sublime

  • Good to see that they contain ingredients

  • Yes and those ingredients are cardboard and dust

  • The Waitrose gluten free ones were surprisingly good, or I've forgotten what a proper mincer tastes like.

  • A crumble topped mincer from Ty Melin bakery in Cardiff. Wonderful with a Bailey's hot chocolate.

  • Disappointed in the offering from Kember & Jones in Glasgow today - was looking forward to it as well...

Nicely presented, good pastry with a pleasant frangipane lid but the filling was watery sultanas & sadness - no detectable citrussy tang, syrupy goodness or booze... could have had 3 of Gregg's finest for the same price too, would not mince again

  • Yeah - I tend to agree, I wouldn't buy them but I'll eat a couple... FOR SCIENCE!

  • Ahh fair. Yes I respect that. Gotta try at least one…

  • Ooh, a Viennese. Might upset the purists but got to say I could get behind that

  • Battle of the M&S fancy supermarket options. The Classic on the right and Collection on the left. Both well filled as you'd expect of an M&S mincer - no 'Scrooge's Air Pockets' to be seen here.

Both good mincers, pastry was really short and crisp on the Collection which was the best part - I would have been happy to just eat the lid like a biscuit. It had fancier decoration on top. The Collection mince was a bit dark, strong and a little sour and sophisticated for my taste (7/10). The classic was the best all rounder for me, pastry was still nice but the mince was a bit sweeter and more balanced. Would mince again (8/10).

  • Iceland luxury.

  • viennese options. Tried the latter and it was sublime

    Oh gosh

  • I bought a dozen from Pavilion today and am underwhelmed.

  • I bought a dozen

Please donate the remainder to a good cause.

  • Two are for @dbr in my defence. Doubt the remaining three will last long enough to leave the house :P

  • Iceland luxury.

how do these compare to Tesco Finest?

Tesco and Iceland are the two sources I have near to hand. Currently working through a 6 deck of TF; they are significantly less good than Waitrose made with love. Ok, they are also less than half the price.

  • 🙏🏻🎅🏻🙏🏻

    A Christmas miracle

  • We has access to a few fancy bakery mincers here in Sydney but tbh I just don’t feel like eating one while it’s 30 degrees.

  • They’re good, I think, they’re a store bought pie made in bulk. But the mincemeat doesn’t have that aftertaste of too much sugar/weirdness.

They’re at least as good as Greggs, while being different to Greggs.

    If that makes sense.
