Does anyone have a preferred mechanic/shop for dynamo set up in Ldn?

Are Shimano hubs serviceable/repairable? My DH-3N80 died on my ride home last night.
Alternatively, anyone selling a 32h dynamo hub in silver?

How did it die?
If you've just lost power you might just need to clean and lube the contacts -
• #4682
Just seemingly stopped working mid-ride, and now the wheel spins freely with none of the usual resistance. Will give cleaning the contacts a try though, thanks

I've had that happen a number of times and every time it was just a matter of spraying with contact cleaner - letting it evaporate and the apply a generous layer of white vaseline to the inside of the hub connector.
The wife's even had a period of flickering during riding which was fixed as well. -

Not my construction but I find it interesting, so put it here for inspiration.

A good way to annoy the people riding behind you.
Could've used some conical washers to make the light level and not pointing upwards.Imo the lightskin seatpost is a much neater solution
-
• #4686
Yess, was going to recommend those washers for the ability to angle the light :)

I showed some pictures of this when I first started the project. The wiring is pretty much done now. I may make a kydex sleeve to go in the BB shell.

I just need a seatpost that I can get wires out of and I'll be doing this on the swat mounts under my specialized saddle

Thomson, and drill a big hole thru the cradle plates.

Sorry for the shitty pics. Second set is one where I used an alternate top cap and mounted the light to that pillar under the saddle

Tried the contact cleaner and through trial and error have narrowed the issue down to either the front light or the cable between the front light and hub. Annoyingly I'd painstakingly threaded the cable through the strut of my front rack so need further inspection.
Anyone know what B&M's support/returns are like? Think I bought the light from bike-discount or bike24 pre Brexit 🙃

Another option I'm considering is getting a Sinewave Beacon for my touring bike and moving the IQ-X I have on there to replace the IQ-XS on my everyday bike. Have read that the beam pattern is more or a spotlight type thing, more suited to off-road than road. Anyone have experience of using the Beacon (or similar Sinewave light) on road?
-
• #4693
The Beacon just throws a massive pool of light out. I wasn't a big fan of it on my bike on the road, so I made a little shield out of kydex to keep the beam down. However it was great off road.
However i hace ridden with David from sinewave and the light doesn't bother me from his light when riding together.

Would be keen on the Iq-xs if you move it on :-)

• #4695
Yes that's the plan although I'm not a fan of Thomson but I'll go that way if I have to
-
• #4696
That's the broken one, so probably not much use to you!

If you scroll up a bit you can see a drilled out Nitto (Sim Works). You can also drill straight down from the angled bit, as this was supposed to have been done. I’m gonna wager you could do it with just about any post, I’ve definitely seen it done to an old SR. Might have been velolumino?

• #4698
Yup, Velolumino

I love the contrast between elegant white wall wood floor bicycle room, with a professional tool furniture, and the woodscrew into the Yahoo mount...
Do you know how compatible the Supernova rear would be with a Son Edelux II?
