Thanks for the info. I was just about to put the record away and I thought I would try shazam (have had very little success with it for my musical tastes). I installed the app and it recognised it immediately!

Does anyone know if a record collection counts as one valuable item that should be declared for insurance, or is it just viewed as a collection of single items?

Depends of the total value I guess (based on your contents cover). And also if a single item is over a certain value (same as for your bikes).

I've declared mine as a single item with Hiscox - seemed pretty standard when I raised it with them.

Maybe I should do the same, it is worth quite a bit but no individual item is over the single item limit.

Not a fan? I like it down there. Trying to get a little set on their Funktion One system at one point. Never been anywhere else with that volume of hardcore/jungle/dnb to dig through. I think they keep the better condition stuff to sell on their ‘back room’ Discogs.

Further to my question towards the top of this page about insurance.

My policy is up for renewal and I asked if my collection (which is worth approx 20K) is viewed as a single item that should be named, or if it is viewed as lots of single items (max record value is around £350 and names items have to be 2k or over). The answer from them was that it does not need to be a named single item.
