I had to remove mine to replace the top element. Pretty simple if you're methodical.
I think there were a few elements in mine, so I had to test each to see which one.
I was going to suggest plusgas to make sure they are ceased. However, I can't imagine food tasting nice after spraying that. I wonder if there is a way of getting citric acid on them?
