Main reason to get the 10th is USB C, especially if you don’t have Lightning devices in the house or are looking to get away from it.
Should also have better resale value down the line.

Cheers - have an iPhone through work so Lightning cable not too much of an issue

I'd get the newer one, because it's newer (meaning it will be supported for longer, it will "last longer", because it's newer tech (better display, and better camera, which would be important to me), also it just looks nicer (thinner frame / no "home button")..

Brought a 2011 iMac for £80 the other week, and have been super impressed by what the folks at Open Core Legacy Patcher have achieved. The 2011 iMac is locked to High Sierra; however, with OCLP it's now running Monterey pretty well and it's more than good enough for web browsing, music and video playback, Office 365 etc.

Technical question
I've got a micro SSD which has a couple of partitions on it. Looking to just clone the card; same partition structure, same files etc. Identical.
I can create a disk image in disk utility but that's only for one of the partitions. Is there a way to just clone the card?

Really specific one.
I’ve got a MacBook Pro from work that I’d like to play games on but it has all the admin limitations with installing to the applications folder.
Is it possible to run games off an SSD, that aren’t in the apps folder?

nope

Damn - no workarounds? Would save me spending a couple hundred on a crap windows machine…

Macs will run applications from absolutely anywhere on any disk (unless that's been locked down too).
(or the app developer has deliberately hobbled it)

My dad's macbook pro has just started having problems charging using the same setup he always uses. It says charging but it's really not. Is this common? Any suggestions?

I need to get some equipment at work for a team who’re currently are using awful stuff. The most they’d be doing would be Indesign and little bits of video for online. Would the current generation of Air’s be okay for this?
And are LG Ultrafine 24” still a good single cable solution? Or is there anything else I should be looking at for monitors?
They’re currently using 7yr old laptops connected to VGA monitors with a HDMI adapter.
-
• #20947
If they don’t need to be mobile you might want to consider Mac mini plus monitor etc.
-
• #20948
Solid option unless the video editing will be heavy going. Also second minis instead of airs if they’re at their desks

Did you wipe the drive drive and brand new install.

I am pretty much into the Apple ecosystem (phone tablet laptop and watch) my wife also uses an iPhone. About to upgrade our tv and wondering if we should also move from Amazon firestick to Apple TV device. Will if give better picture or sound (we are Atmos enabled) than the current firestick or will the main advantage just be casting websites etc straight from phone to tv screen?
Indeed - I did laugh when they were added last year. Rewards are being nerfed right now beyond saving so it's time to cash in on 3 years of endless clicking
