  • Has anyone tried this?

Looks like a great idea to me - I think some of the 'professional' designs are reliant on little more than a bit of rubber or some big squash balls anyway! My only concern would be that the whole thing would 'walk' around a bit on that shiny floor, but on carpet/a mat I'm sure it would be fine..

I've had bits of cut-up yoga mat under the feet of my trainer for 2 years (initially to stop it wobbling - then adding more to make it comfier) and not had any mishaps (yet!).

  • Does anyone know where I can get the thru-axle converter so that I can use my bike on a old turbo (ie. with the rear wheel still mounted)? Been hunting around and come up with various possibles but it's not very clear whether they'll be compatible.

It's a Tarmac SL6 to an old Tacx magnet trainer. If anyone has experience with this (or even can point me to where I can get the necessary part) I'd be most grateful!

  • This seems the most likely fix but not 100% sure it's what I need...

  • Seeing as I've just been reading a fuckton of stuff about this recently: mean maximal power* can be used a sufficiently accurate proxy for critical power or ftp, though accuracy degrades the fewer the maximal efforts undertaken (Spragg & Leo, 2020 & Spragg et all. 2022).

You can model FTP without tests, but if you're not actually putting effort in, then it's going to be rubbish

    * the maxima of a series of power duration curves (per cycling activity), where the PDC is a convolution of maximum power over time for that activity.

Thank you for coming to my TED talk.

Next up: 3hyp Critical Power. Is it all it's 3hyped up to be?

    thats what intervals.icu is for

  • Tarmac SL6

If you can find out the thread pitch, I might have something.

  • The pitch is standard 1.0mm for a 12x142mm thru-axle. If you've got anything that might work that would be really great!

  • Looking back, my classified add says it’s a Kinetic Traxle 12mm Thru Axle - Fine (T-2100) which it says = 1.0 pitch.

  • Anyone ever put their kids’ bike on rollers? My elite rollers will adjust short enough for my son’s 24 inch wheel road bike but then the band is way too loose so the front wheel doesn’t turn.
I can’t see them anywhere but can you get shorter bands for kids or do you need different shorter rollers?
Someone with kids who ride track should know!

  • Can you run the drive belt off the rear most roller rather than the middle one? Or is that make it too short?

  • Aside from Wahoo's silly £200 desk, does anyone have an alternative desk set up for their turbo trrainer?

  • I want to have a permanent turbo setup with a toddler around. Does anyone has a solution for something like a fence to make it safe?

  • Nah, I looked for other tables and that was a served ad.

I think it’s about the same as the jetblack and is a reasonable price.

  • I have that turbo table, it was £50 from Wiggle in a sale. It's perfect, can't see how the Wahoo one would be any different.

  • One says lifeline and one says wahoo.
    I’m guessing?
    (Sorry #dadjokes)

  • Badum tish. 😆

  • You might be a genius. Will report back!

  • You are a genius! Thanks, great idea
Not tested but can’t see why it won’t work!

  • What's the go-to, thick, sound-absorbing turbo mat these days that's not some ridiculous £80 KICKR branded thing? Not the gym tiles I use, they need something that lifts up easier, like a roll out mat.

  • two kickr things for double the quietness?

  • Want to know the same.

Because I'm in a top floor flat, considering a combo like this..
