  • Tried this and went through the process, but still says linked to an account!!..

  • LG 5k 27” is $2,500 on Amazon- sound about right?

  • Probably. I've got my 2 second hand though. Paid around £500 for as-new condition. Just make sure you get the revised version with USB-C and not just thunderbolt

  • Use one of these things?

  • Guys your ppt game must be epic for all the requirements of these 32inch 5k screens

  • That's what I thought as well 🙂

  • Woe is me, for my lonely campaign to prove that an iPhone 5S is still viable today is being crushed, slowly and inexorably, by reality.

If anyone has a decent replacement available soon, please do hit me up. I guess I'm in the SE2020 to 11, possibly 12 range.

  • Guys your ppt game must be epic for all the requirements of these 32inch 5k screens

A lot of the presentations that I put together are made from content in other presentations - so it's fairly common for me to have three to four open (one being put together, the others being mined for content) plus Outlook, Teams etc.

It's handy to have all of these windows open on the big screen at once rather than having to page through the windows when they're stacked on top of one another on my laptop.

May sound like a small thing but it makes work much more enjoyable, rapid and effective.

Which is why I'm ok with buying my own screen for work.

  • Aha. Then I’d go bigger than 27

  • Have you considered an lg dualup? I would get one if I was in the market for a new screen. It's the dimensions of 2 24'' stacked on top of each other.

I also needs loads of screen space, but that's as much to do with my cognitive abilities than my work.

  • Good point. I used to run my laptop below my main screen and two screens on top of each other makes a lot of sense from a ergonomics p.o.v

  • But why not an anker hub and your old screen?

  • Yeah the constant side to side is bad juju for posture/neck etc

@Dammit I was tongue in cheek and your use case makes sense. Also why not! In my new job two screens has definitely proved useful. I think I might get a purpose built webcam too bc the one on the MacBook isn’t great

  • Because I made a Zwift setup with it.

  • Those raindrops almost look real!

Amazing how far monitors have come.

  • Yeah the constant side to side is bad juju for posture/neck etc

..but is constant up and down better? (serious question)

I think I might get a purpose built webcam too bc the one on the MacBook isn’t great

After starting to need / use Zoom again recently I remembered that using my iPhone as a webcam is an option nowadays, so I bought a cheap magsafe mount thing as in the pic below - and it works really well, and picture quality is a-ma-zing!

  • Anyone know if the new magic trackpads are better than the old ones with aa batteries? I need to mix my setup up to save on my wrists, but the aa trackpad feels pretty unresponsive and vague , but I’m thinking it might just be old tech / worn out?

  • I have one from two years ago (chargeable via lightning port), and it's basically the same as the built-in one of the 16" MBP.
    In other words: it's great!

  • That’s what I was hoping to hear!

  • Well, monitor arrived and I plugged everything in - absolutely won't take a signal from my Mac via USB-C, which was the point, and nothing plugged into the USB ports works, for anything other than getting power.

    So! Not great.

  • I was expecting new toy joy, but instead it's balls.

  • What a shitshow

    Which monitor?

  • See if installing "DisplayLink Manager" helps
