Can heartily recommend these Merino Beanies. Made In England, in case that is important to you.
Paul James KnitwearDidn't know the short / hipsterish ones were called Deck Caps. But casting my mind back to old US navy war films, it's obvious now.

Level up and visit Stockholm. This is the current way to wear a hat
Wish I was joking

if you check marrkt.com they have some beanies, barely worn or often NOS, cotton or wool, Highland or others, for £15-2o, perfectly good.

A flea market in Peckham would surely be the ideal habitat for that sort of thing?

I've got an Albion beanie/Elan Merino wool hat. Nice colours.

Around here we call them toques, and I’d like a thin yet dense all wool one that I can wear over a balaclava. Have yet to find the perfect balance, although an old wigwam one I have comes close.

Could be worse - they could look like extras from Tenko, which seems a popular trend at the minute (I was at Rich Mix on Friday).

Pretty sure Albion are made by Mackie (Scottish woollen outfit). I’ve a Mackie wool beanie and it looks identical - with the same colour speckling in the wool. Recommended

The heimat deck caps are superb. Will last forever.
Current favourite though is a merz b schwanen.

Still miss my french fisherman deck cap I once bought for one swiss franc and then lost. Was perfect.
Paul James looks really nice.
We quite like the colourful standard hat.
Somewhere between east 17/acne and normal, makes you fit right in on flea markets. -

Is Toast acceptable? I feel old looking at their stuff, but equally I like quite a bit of it.

Toast is very acceptable. Not my style exactly but I often think both men’s and women’s looks good. Kinda MHL vibes

Picked up a Drakes reversible mac for half price at Liberty yesterday. Got 14 days to decide if it’s right for me…

Looking for a tweedy, raglan sleeve, balmacaan type overcoat, like this John Simons. Anyone spotted anything in the sales? Uniqlo used to do one similar, but the latest ones are shit.

Haven't seen one specifically and don't know what you're aiming for on budget but that style looks quite like Oliver Spencer to me - might be worth looking there to see?

Universal Works did one in a relatively budget friendly price which is now in the sales - swing coat. It’s not super thick but think it’s got the aesthetic youre looking for

Thanks @andyfallsoff @Tenderloin I couldn't see anything I liked on the Oliver Spencer site, and a bit on the expensive side for me. I've got some Universal Works trousers and a shirt, so that's more my budget. They do have similar type coats but with normal sleeves, down to £200 in sale. Might pop down to town this afternoon and have a try on.

I have something similar from one of the pro sellers at the flea market?
Ok, it has this old school heavy construction, but it's great. Also not checkered but more houndstooth. -

Also now checking out the sales.
Someone else on here a big mfpen fan?

Cheers. Not sure I can rock black and white, but I'll watch it. Do have a Ebay saved search for Balmacaan but nothing ever comes up, other than Uniqlo.
There must be plenty of beanies for sale in Peckham, it’s the land of funky backpacks and orange beanies.
I had the misfortune of going there to collect something at the flea market on Sunday, this was the queue of clones.
