  • Thanks, will have to measure and see if there's room under the counter, it's a bit of a tight fit with the current machine!

  • fair point! there's also the thinner rubbery mats too, that are maybe 10mm thick or so

  • Nice. I just have a small liebherr wine storage fridge. My M&D have a couple of eurocaves that must be 30+ years old. I always have a nose on eBay, but they all seem to be miles from me unfortunately.

  • This one was on FB marketplace though there was one in Fareham at the same time for £20 more. So further away from me even if it was 10 years younger.

Really need more wine to fill it with. Any recommendations for reasonable wines to settle down for 5-10 years? Tempted to look Chilean and maybe look for Bordeaux at a reasonable price

  • I do most of my wine buying now at the Wine Society, there are a nice mix of wines available and always something new added daily. They have a good online community which is very helpful. Pricing is pretty fair and you get chance to bag sought after wines, although normally restricted to singles unless favoured by their algorithm. I have quite a mix of stuff, some at home/M&Ds and in bond, but mainly. France (Bordeaux, Rhone & Burgundy) Spain (Rioja, Ribera del Duero), Italy (Barolo), NZ, Aus & USA wines (Ridge Zins)

Bordeaux is a good place to start though!

    Probably should >>> Wine thread

  • I got some of those dampening feet for the washing machine mentioned above. When I tipped the machine to the side to put the feet under it it started leaking water, now when I touch the bottom
there is some dampening material on the underside but completely soaked. Is that normal that
water comes out when the machine is slightly tilted?

  • I think that's a no. Check the hoses haven't come loose.

  • It's bone dry around the hoses and the back panel, there must have been water in the bottom tray when I got a bit too enthusiastic with the vinegar and soda crystals and had a bit of a overflow.
The foam material around the bottom is wet

  • Is the filter done up tight? There's usually a flap on the front covering it. Maybe check that.

  • Yes, it's tight. I will open the back and check if the bottom tray is still wet.

  • There was a bit of water in the tray, I guess that is where it came from when I tilted it.

  • I've known that to be the starting symptoms of door rubber failing.

  • Will that leak internally between drum and seal?

  • Missed this a week ago. I probably used the wrong term for the seal. In the past when I've been tracking down a small leak it's turned out that the seal was damaged. That is the rubber bit that seals the door to the drum.

  • I think it was overflow from my enthusiastic cleaning, I have run a few washing cycles now and there are no leaks.

  • We have a good set of pot type pans but could do with a frying pan and maybe a sauté pan with lid. Hex clad are all over my feed but I’m dubious…

  • I asked about hex a page or two back and was strongly told to avoid!

  • I'm also in this market - had a lot of helpful replies on the food thread https://www.lfgss.com/conversations/132944/?offset=32775

  • Phew. I was getting worried about this.

  • What are you going for or leaning towards?

  • After some sort of slow cooker. Could get a simple one, but saw some Ninja 9-in-1 craziness that has an air fryer inbuilt too. Also a Sage model that’s also a pressure cooker.

    Anyone got any experience/recommendations please?

  • Has anyone retrofitted an induction hob with built in extractor, good experience? For whatever reason the kitchen has a steal beam above the hob so probably the reason there is no extractor.

I guess I'll just lose a few drawers.

  • I have one of these

    https://ninjakitchen.co.uk/product/ninja-foodi-11-in-1-smartlid-multi-cooker-6l-ol550uk-zidOL550UK

It's good and it gets used a lot. Main use is the airfryer which is very convenient. I use the pressure cooker much more than the slow cooker but both are good and it's useful being able to saute stuff in the pot rather than having to use a pan.

I got one from Amazon Warehouse that was a fair bit cheaper than the retail price and they come up on there pretty often.
