Read the earlier story and though ha they are probably pissed up some where. From the stoopid shit that I used to do.
Really didn't expect that.

I know. It's absolutely awful.

I've had a few drinks, so I'm probably coming across as an arse.
It is terrible for the parents. Part of me thinks it is a bit unfair. As a teen I lied to parents to go off grid camping. Basically under age drinking, talking shit, burning food etc. Feel sad that they didn't get away with it, as I did.
Then I feel guilty that children are dieing in Gaza. Whom I have no connection to but these 4, I feel more connected to as I have done similar.
Does that make sense?

Could you add this to 90% of your posts please?

James, grow up. You are coming across as a stalker, looking for confrontation.
-
• #85582
Ah, are you my stalker?
James, would you like to post up what you said about @rohan during a period of remission from the cancer that finally killed him, behind his back.
Or the race being the first to announce his death on the RIP thread. For some one that has claimed to have mental health issues when no longer having access to the forum seems moot.
Feel free to say what ever you wish about me, I know what a truly shit filed excuse for a human you are. Remember that private conversation we had by phone? How you told others about it? At the end of the day, what ever my issues are, I will never be such a hate filled shit bag as you.
But feel free to tell the forum, what I told you in private, by telephone. Why not tell the forum what I told you and whom you told.
Or is this what you thrive on?

Top CAA agent Maha Dakhil ignited a firestorm with her Instagram
posts, including one that said, “What’s more heartbreaking than
witnessing genocide? Witnessing the denial that genocide is
happening.”In response, Dakhil was relieved of her duties as co-chief the motion
pictures department, though she was allowed to remain an agent. Her
client, Tom Cruise, made it known that to CAA that he was backing her.
Cruise met with Dakhil at her CAA office on Nov. 15. A knowledgeable
source says he took the rare step of going in person to show support
for his embattled agent.https://twitter.com/Variety/status/1727084980835430869
The argument is, if you claim Israel is carrying out genocide it's anti-semitic.

Closer to home - https://www.theguardian.com/world/2023/nov/21/were-going-to-see-people-dying-on-the-streets-homeless-refugee-crisis-grips-liverpool
We’ve granted these people refugee status, let’s get on and treat them like human beings.

James, grow up. You are coming across as a stalker, looking for confrontation.
This is exactly how it comes across... to the extent that I received 2 DMs from other people also pointing me towards this and asking me to remind @dancing james to not be a dick and to quit stalking and purposefully provoking lynx. At some point everyone thinks that you're being a total dick James, so back off a bit.
Not that @lynx you're any kind of angel, and you do come out with some crap at times... but it's not malicious, so stay on the right side of that.
Looking at recent posts of both of you, I dunno... go out and ride bikes for a bit? Always good to get off the internet.

I think it would be legitimate if words like holocaust were used. And absolutely understand why genocide would be an emotive term, but it is not unique to any one group.
According to Article 2 of the 1948 United Nations Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide defines genocide as
"any of the following acts committed with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical, racial or religious group, as such: killing members of the group; causing serious bodily or mental harm to members of the group; deliberately inflicting on the group conditions of life calculated to bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part; imposing measures intended to prevent births within the group; [and] forcibly transferring children of the group to another group."
Ianail but I don't think the intent is a slam dunk, but physical destruction in part seems pretty clear doesn't it? So on balance it seems like up for fair debate without accusations of antisemitism.
What is frustrating is that while you can criticise Israel without being antisemitic, too often it quickly moves into antisemitism. I thought Lewis Goodall's peice on the News Agents covering the protests on armistice day was interesting. The tl;Dr was that it was the sort of protest he could have imagined going on as a student, but based on a number of the participants views wouldn't have been comfortable attending a second one.

Out if curiosity what is the alleged trope?

• #85590
I guess its the Palestinian flag colours on that lady's top?
Dunno really though!

Some nazi poster once used a blue octopus so apparently that's an anti-Semitic symbol. Not that I'd ever heard of it.
-
• #85592
This is where I heard of it first:
https://www.rollingstone.com/politics/politics-news/greta-thunberg-octopus-palestine-israel-gaza-1234859322/amp/With the propagando poster referenced being this one:
https://encyclopedia.ushmm.org/content/en/photo/anti-jewish-propagandaNot done much looking to see how far and wide octopuses have been used as an antisemetic trope - but a quick search only brought this one cartoon up.

It's conceivable, though, that they had heard of it (following the accusations against Greta Thunberg of antisemitism, having posted a tweet saying Free Palestine, where she had a toy stuffed octopus next to her), and included the toy mascot on that basis (that is it a toy, not an antisemitic dog whistle, and that being accused of antisemitism on that basis is absurd).
The problem is that even pretend dog whistles can be heard, and that people listening for dog whistles will hear them everywhere.

I do hate this about the Internet. It used to be common in the memes thread.
"what's the issue?"
"omg how do you not know that the small 27NL tattoo that's visible is a common white power calling card? Are you racist or something?" -
• #85599
Not to deminish the trope. But aren't octopi really in following that Netflix doc about them being too smart to eat?
-
• #85600
This is one of my anxiety dreams about getting a tattoo.
I get a little bike wheel, and years later find out it's actually the logo of the white bikes mega racists and I'm stuck with it..
Absolute tragedy, four young lives taken. Any parent of teenagers (probably boys in particular) fear this.
One of my sons did a 'road trip' camping in Wales with his mates at 17/18 and it was a bloody worry (having been an idiotic teenage boy myself).
Thoughts for everyone involved, such a waste, all of those lads had probably been looking forward to this and all of the parents dreading it.
