  • Sounds like you need to fill the boot out a bit more? Tried adding an insole?

  • I would say approximately never. You eventually polish the interior so the rubbing is not
that bad but they always stay a hard and heavy boot, it's more like wearing a piece of furniture.

  • Every time I wince internally when seeing trainers c.£200 it really is just the equivalent price of shoes that were £100 20 years ago plus inflation.

Currently enjoying all the reissue 1985 cut Air Jordan 1 hi and lows with board lasting and proper shapes.

  • I paid £190 for the first black leather Air Max TN imports from Sports & Things. I think Air Max 95s were still around the £100 mark at that point. Crazy.

I can't bring myself to look at AJ1s in the shops anymore, every random colourway in lo, mid and OG. Also crazy.

  • ASICS GT11 and Saucony Jazz are my alternate dad/work trainers to the ubiquitous NB.

  • Meteor Sports in Bethnal Green was c. £250 for USA TNs; Kash used to fly out on a Friday to NYC, store managers would let him buy after hours then red-eye flight back so they were on sale same day in UK as release day Saturday in NYC. And he did that every week. Brutal.

  • Bloody east end prices, Junior Boss was much fairer priced than that. 💸

  • Possibly, good shout!

  • This reminds me of aged 13 when I mistakenly thought hobnail boots would be a good idea as general wear boots. It was not a good idea at all

  • We lived next door to a sneaker store in Brooklyn. I was always amazed by the queues on release day.

  • Seen a few other people posting about Red Wings - I think I'd quite like some Red Wing Chukka's - I have smart boots & winter weather boots covered off by other things so these would be more for casual instead of trainers all the time.

I've been looking on their website for months and they never seem to have any in stock - am I missing something here? Is it Rolex style fake scarcity or have they actually stopped making them? Anyone know?

  • Unrelated to stock issues but definitely try them on first if you can - my Beckmans looked huge compared to other British made boots of the same size in my collection. Possibly less of an issue for chuckkas but worth bearing in mind.

  • I have the redwing chukkas. They’re true to size on a narrow (for redwing) last. I went true to size in them but I’m half a size smaller in the moc toe boots.

  • I went for half a size smaller in the chukkas and a full size smaller in the Beckman/iron rangers

  • Thanks - from a sample of three, it seems going in and trying them on might be a good idea.

Just a bit of a faff dragging a baby along for the fun - I'll try contacting them & seeing what their stock is like in store.

  • What size are you?
I got some in a 12 that I rarely wear and would sell on if you are a fellow bigfoot

edit: I have RW Iron Rangers, Moc Toe and Chukka, all in UK12, Chukkas are probably the least comfy (that is not to say they are uncomfortable)

  • I'm somewhere between 11 & 12 depending on brand - I'll go to the shop and waste some of their time trying different things on then maybe give you a shout if I am a redwing 12 thanks.

  • Any interest in these UK9.5 Cheaney Cole monkey boots? Bought new and only worn a handful of times because they’re true to size and my right foot is a 10. Box & bags… £90?

  • They’re nice, not my style but if you’re letting any Paraboots go… ?

  • On the subject of Paraboots - I’m after some loafers, the Reims ones - sizing wise am I right to try half a size down from Michael's? No one in town seems to have any sizes between 9 and 11 in stock…

  • I was wearing those furry Paraboots the other day and I thought... 'were it not for the internet and Lfgss, there's no way on earth I would've bought these...'

Still not ready to sell though!

  • Been humming and hawing about the need for new black shoes considering WFH and biz casual. My old brogues are knackered (30yrs of wear and several resoles) and I still need black shoes twice a year.
    Any thoughts on Cheaneys?

  • What do you have currently? Nothing beats a pair of shoes that are well worn but cared for. Do a Prince Charles and keep em going

  • Sold my michael's for £180 on Vinted, pretty much brand new so take a look on there. Official advice is a half size down from paraboot, I can confirm but they are narrow for my feet.

Don't worry they were a 7.5 before you get sad.

    Are you in London? https://sonofastag.com/products/paraboot-michael-marche-shoe-brown-lis-cafe?variant=39490212462677

  • Strong orthopedic vibes. I can see why you sold them.
