I totally agree there is a certain vibe. It’s just very tired albeit good quality. I’ll salvage what I can.

I third the motion of not smashing that to bits. Something new of equal durability will be another £40k room.

That with some contrasting floor will be infinitely better than most of the big grey tiles stuff you see.

White/black chequerboard tiled floor would/could look awesome.

We had a 1940s bath re-enamelled recently and I would definitely recommend the guy and the process.
-

What sort of cost did you pay to re-enamel? And, assume the finish is as same as a new enamel bath?

Had a call from my architect yesterday. He's never been paid by Dan James for the plans he did for me back in Feb/March, or other recent jobs. Dan James are apparently now in administration, leaving people with half-finished, unweatherproof and uninsulated loft conversions.
It's fortunate that I'm a bit crap at pushing progression with this sort of thing, otherwise I might also be properly in the shit right now. Feel very much like I've dodged a bullet.

There’s gonna be a lot more of this coming too. Decent you dodged a bullet on this one

To keep the tiles if you don't have replacement tiles probably the first way to ask how much that would be. I guess replacing the bathtub destroys definitely some tiles or some new same black tiles are needed for replacement. Always hard to decide!

With some effort you can probably drop the bath as there are usually levelling feet underneath to avoid damaging tiles
Then it leaves the plumbing and mastic to sort as well as placating whoever has to do the work.

Oof, can imagine a lot of people must be in trouble given the amount they seem to do.
Just goes to show that even with due diligence and going with a local company with a good reputation you can still end up screwed. Lucky escape.

It cost £720 altogether which included filling two tap holes as well.
The finish is like a new enamel bath, looks like brand new shiny white.

Outside is a bit rough tho

We paid a lot for that finish 😭

Looks amazing! Did the paint they use stink the place out? I'm still mentally recovering from when we had some built in cupboards painted "onsite" and we had to panic book a hotel as you couldn't even be in our house - thought we would come back to a dead cat the fumes were so bad.

I can feel a migraine coming along just thinking about it.
-
• #8493
It wasn't too bad at all actually, I expected it to be much worse.
We had it done as part of a bigger upstairs renovation, and the day the walls were attacked with two-part filler was definitely worse.

Having a hard time finding tiles like these in the UK; any tips much appreciated.
They’re 25x150mm ‘buff’, semi-matt glazed.

Reckon you might find something if you search ‘mosaic’.

Thanks, found loads, including Winckelmans encaustic unglazed cement in 25x150mm, which we will likely be using.
‘Kit Kat tiles’ also brings up the goods.

The only logical solution is to book the next flight to Morocco.

We all know that's how they only do it on grand designs.
This has a very similar vibe to our bathroom in NYC and I've got to say I really like it. If it's 40yo then it's clearly excellent quality.
I would definitely think twice about what your replace given there is a good chance of inferior materials.
