Yeah, it is! I read it’s a “yachting Chronograph”.
@Regal yes, they look quite odd, but apparently all original. The watch was purchased NOS from a dealer in Germany few years ago. I have the bracelet (which is missing one end link - that’ll be a challenge to find, I think) and the box as well as a part of a newspaper page with an advert for that watch. Newspaper is from 1978, pic attached.
@c.h.e (can never tag you mate) yes it is, they’re very cool watches.

Superb.

Torn between these two seikos. The grand quartz has a better movement & looks in better condition. Case on the king quartz is nicer though . Struggling to make a decision on which to get

That is indeed Superb.

I’d go with the King Quartz, the GQ case looks over polished. Plus the KQ has great lug design.
Then start saving for a vintage manual Grand Seiko :) -

Threw this on an old perlon today. Works well I think, and in the early summer we're getting it solves the bracelet sizing being slightly too loose or too tight.
Edit... Auto correct changed perlon to person...

Perlons are my favourite, the only downside is if the watch itself it heavy. That looks great.

Typical LFGSS advice: both?
-
• #74937
Lugs on the KS are indeed very nice, good point on the repolishing too
I'm saving for a 9f quartz , though the vintage GS manuals are very tempting.

Heh, I probably have too many similar watches as is it !

• #74939
Sell the others. (At least tell that to yourself and shush your conscience)

Depending on your budget, I’m toying with parting with this GQ ~ £450. This has the hardened stainless steel case.
Edit: nope, sorry, changed my mind… can’t do it lol. Stupid man bracelets.

They work over whatever distance/units you want - measure the time over the known distance and where the hand stops gives you a multiplier.

Heh, I've had similar changes of heart with seeling watches too . Your GQ is lovely , definitely a keeper

If it makes you feel any better I think I impulse purchased one of these this morning after you sent me down an eBay rabbit hole.

Orly? Shirley the scale is dependant on units?
I mean knots / miles / kilometers are all different ratios no?
Dat condition though. Original hands, do you think?
