  • 'celebrities' in adverts. With all the Xmas ones popping up.

    Surely people don't actually buy more stuff because a famous face is being paid to advertise it do they?

  • If it’s the face of someone you trust then yes, you might listen to the message and buy that brand over a similar one.

  • Was going to make a generic snobby 'have you ever met people?' comment when I realised I bought some premium bonds about 20 years ago based largely on Alan Sugar advertising them. It seems laughable to me now, but I don't know if I'd have done it otherwise. Doubtless could have invested better but probably not the worst thing to have done with the money.

  • Testing by System One found that celebs actually dont make a more effective ad. Most likely it’s just an idea that clients like, and creatives like the idea of meeting a celeb
