Lots of very good new jazz (nu jazz?) in Gilles P's show last Saturday on BBC 6Music.
Mostly UK acts with the obligatory tune by Ezra Collective and the promising young chaps of Oreglo. -

Knower Forever is now on all streaming platforms.
It's still my favourite feel good album this year. Listen now or regret it forever or something.
Adam Ratner channels Walter Becker in the solo on the new video:

Just ordered the vinyl of this on a gamble based on the cover art and the band members.

Ha. Is that good or bad?
It’s definitely not high brow or intellectual record but it’s fucking fun and has some awesome musicians on it.

Intriguing bricolage of stuff.. Most importantly, no muso jazz wank but virtuoso playing. Plus slightly murky production.

I need to give the recent Charles Lloyd stuff a go; I've been buying a few of his 60s records lately - Dreamweaver and Of Course, Of Course and a sideman outing on Chico Hamilton Special, all great.
Saw Zyggurat last week, and they were fantastic. Modular synth, drums, trumpet (with effects), played for an hour straight without stopping in an electric Miles/Krautrock kinda style. Along with the also great un.procedure, Pan Pan venue (and it's Jazz Jam) and Blow Water cafe it's nice that Brum is getting a little scene going.

On the Charles Lloyd front, Forest Flower is a great live album.

Vanished Gardens with Lucinda Williams is one of my Charles Lloyd (and the Marvels)favourites.
A big back catalogue to explore!? -

Thanks for the tips. Charles Lloyd is one of those people you read about in the Wire for 30 years and then finally listen to!

I'm going to have to go as I'm actually in London's famous London working an event that weekend. Will kick myself forever if I don't go.

Anyone listening to Chiminyo? His live NRG 2 is great (especially dat bass synth). Seems to be loads of jazz drummers bringing out great records at the moment.

Record arrived last week, but haven't listened yet. The first one was great though, so I'm hoping for more of the same.
