Twisting the adjuster in either direction no longer makes any difference.

It's probably out too far and being held in place by cable tension, pull the black plastic part up to check, but you'll likely need to do as said and dial it in (with some pressure on it to get it restarted in the threads) then pull through more cable at the clamp, it might be easier to do all of this with the cable unclamped and out of the way, the threads may be damaged.

Anyone use Giant, the umbrella company? I did a project through them a few months ago and need my payslip for quarterly accounts.
I'm trying to login but am in a 2FA loop - as soon as I input 2FA it sends me back to the login. It used to work on the second attempt but now it's eternal. I tried contacting them a week ago and the clock is ticking to submit accounts. I've tried different devices, browsers, clearing cache etc - nada. Anyone experienced the same / discovered a solution? -

Facebook marketplace buying question:
I want to buy something - they've asked for a deposit to hold the item. It's not loads - £50 on a £150 item.
If I set out terms up front (return deposit if I just don't want to buy after seeing the item in the flesh, but keep deposit if I no-show) and I use PayPal full legit with fees payment, I'm covered right? If it's a scam attempt, I can just claim the payment back because goods not received?

Yeah he’s just come back and said can I pay via Skrill. Which i’d never heard of.

I have a Lynskey Peloton ti frame, with Ultegra 6800 inc short reach brake callipers.
I have been running 23mm Durano Plus since I built it but fancied putting 28mm tyres on it as we plan a move to the country and more rural miles.
Fitted the 28s and they don't fit - they connect with the bridge of the brake calliper.
So, question.
What is a decent solution here?
Are there brake callipers that can accommodate wider tyres? (there must be, surely)
Are there matchy matchy Ultegra brake callipers that will do the job? -
• #119234
Yeah that’s not even a red flag, it’s a clearly signalled intention and plan.

I messaged back to say I'll risk the item selling and see if it's available at the weekend when I can collect and pay in person. The response was 'fuck me, it's just an app! do a bank transfer then!'...

Lol. I’d ask for their bank details and tell them it’s sent. Might as well waste their time back.
Depending on your appetite for conflict, they’ve set the stage perfectly for a ‘fuck you indeed’ mic drop.

The problem is not the calipers, it's where they're mounted. BR-6800 will clear a 28mm tyre if the frame/fork is set up to exploit the full 51mm reach. Factory spec is 25mm, which will be at the minimum reach. BR-R8000 takes 28mm tyres according to the same Shimano specification standard.

So it's the forks?
Presumably whatever brake I choose now will face the same issue?

According to Shimano, the R8000 has more clearance at the same reach. Definitely worth trying before you go on the hunt for a very slightly longer fork (367mm axle to crown is on the short end, forks for short reach brakes can be up to 375mm). You can always send the brakes back if they don't fit.

I'm pondering putting a filter on my kitchen cold water tap (one of these that fits into the plumbing before the tap)
https://www.brita.co.uk/water-filter-system/water-filter-tap-solutions/mypure-slim-v-mf-water-filter-systemAnyone got one and any thoughts? My main concern is whether or not it will slow the flow rate on the tap.
-
• #119241
It absolutely does slow the flow rate - I put one of these in at work a couple of weeks ago.

Cheers. In that case I think I'll stick with the jug in the fridge.

My partner went to use her sewing machine today and it was totally dead. The fuse was gone so I replace that and when plugged in the motor ran, despite the foot pedal not being pressed, there was an electrical pop and a burning smell. I took the motor cover off and switched it on again and the capacitor started smoking.
So, I need a new one of these but don’t know what I’m looking at or what to search for

That's multiple components in one package, not just a simple capacitor. Take it to your Bernina service shop and get them to advise whether it's available as a spare part, or there is a newer version which does the same job.

I might have a set you can have

It's a radio interference suppressor / noise filter package. They are about £30. I can't find that specific model but if you have the sewing machine make and model then that might help.
The blue is an imaginary chainstay with a cable stop. The orange represents your derailleur. Install so the cap neck protrudes out, then slide the shield onto the neck.
