It's been years since I've used Durano or Durano Plus. Where do the "DD" version sit in the range? Double Defense, I presume means heavier and slower than Durano but maybe not quite as hefty as Durano Plus?
-
• #10028
The dd where the old version but only up to 28 and slower . I bought a set of the velo as well as the old cinturato where pin cushions and constantly leaked even when not used. I am wearing down the teravail at the moment before switching to the velo .

I put mine back on my bike over the weekend for the winter... first ride out yesterday and yea, they're slower than my Corsas but I can't remember having a puncture with them on last year!

With her lighter weight, if I stuck on some fat TL tyres she'd almost be at gravel bike pressures so we could trial tubeless but tubes are just so easy to deal with I'm kinda loathe to fuck around with the road wheels.
I'd be keen to max out what I can stick on my bike. GP Urban in 35mm comes up 34mm and fits but I'd be happier with 32mm and I'm not a fussy little bitch when it comes to "road feel" and speed on winter rides, so I'd throw something heavier on - just don't like that the Marathon/Durano Plus are SO durable they square off heaps before they die and corner weird.

Tubes or TL? They sound nice on paper so I might keep an eye out for a cheap pair to add to my ever-growing tyre collection.

Stay with michelin. I had Pro4 for ages, commuted in the worst possible weather and only had 1 puncture with some metal debris that destroyed the tyre. Felt almost as fast as a race tyre, but lasted ages. Best tyre ever

They've been a favourite of mine for years but I'm a sucker for trying different things so I'll probably still grab some of the Pirelli just to burn through a set. I'd love it if Michi did 32mm version of the Pro4Endurance.

Yo where are all the slick 650b 42s??
-
• #10035
WTB Horizons no good? (oh, they were 47mm so might not fit depending on your frame)
WTB did a ThickSlick in 650b
https://off.road.cc/content/review/tyres/maxxis-receptor-gravel-tyre-review-7525
Most of them are at 47mm. But going wider was kind of the point of 650b

• #10036
Yeah 42 is the biggest it will fit. Everything is 47+ now. Real bummer, I want to be comfy but I also want to be a lil fast. I'm worried going narrower will have the frame sit too low (it's a conversion).

GK Slick 27.5x1.5" (38mm) or 1.75" (44mm)
Everyone on here loves them.

Anyone got a spare 29 2.0 tyre kicking about? I want to cheaply check max clearance on a frame without having to buy a new pair

Ditto. I'll have to suck up the retail price seems like. Thanks
Edit: will I pay mad tax for this?

~35mm gumwall tyres for commuting, winter road riding and a bit of Epping paths. Gravelking slick, or something else? Schwalbe?
-
• #10041
I like the Gravelkings. If you can live with 32c or squeeze a 38 in, Terravail Ramparts are excellent (like a quicker, nicer feeling Gravelking imo).

G one allround?
-
• #10043
Ah yeah, not mad expensive either on Merlin. Knobbles are ok for road then?
-
• #10044
Anyone got a set of NOS Vittoria Open Pave, green striped, in 27mm?
-
• #10045
Yeah I found them decent. definitely losing something to road tyres on tarmac but good for the dirt paths

Grand bois or Rene herse, all out of the panaracer factory.
-
• #10047
Yes i do i think . Boxed new

Tell your missus to take it easy on wet corners. I found the Hypers to be a bit slippy in the wet. Wish I had another set though.

• #10049
I did have: https://www.lfgss.com/conversations/340629/
I don't remember selling them. They're probably still in one of my tyre collection vaults somewhere.
Ah, these are the proper 24s not this modern 27mm rubbish

I ran the 32mm version into the ground. She's more cautious than me so should survive.
Pirelli Cinturato Velo TLR sounds like an interesting option to try. Much better punc res according to https://www.bicyclerollingresistance.com/road-bike-reviews?orderby=pr and only a small Crr penalty compared to my Pro4Endurance (but presumably that's setup tubeless) and it comes in a 32mm which is probs the limit of the Mason.
£68 though :S

Are they a bitch to fit with a tube?
