  • Thanks y'all - gives some hope! Left it charging overnight and came back to it feeling hotter than I'd expect, so the overheating thing rings true @grams . It's now in the fridge charging from a power bank so we'll see if that does anything

But yeah overall seems like an issue with getting sufficient charge into it for it to wake up, rather than a battery fault - reminds me of old iPods where you'd have to use Firewire charging to get them to wake up after sitting for years

  • Got the new 15 pro at the weekend. Nice and snappy compared to the 12 it was replacing. I think not including a plug (or an adapter to use existing) is a total bump though. I know money making institution in money making shocker but it’s kinda lame.

I got one of the slim profile Anker dual plugs as it’s better anyway

  • Gan prime Anker is the way to go. Zendure when travelling.

I really like this setup I have on the desk: https://www.anker.com/uk/products/a25a7?variant=41260982337700&collections_wireless=undefined&Sort_by=Recommended

With 15 (iOS 17) feature of optimise charging that magnetic power pack really works well

  • yeah thats actually the one I wanted but sold out everywhere. Thinking of getting the travel battery thing instead

  • . I think not including a plug (or an adapter to use existing) is a total bump though.

It's about reducing e-waste. The people that get new phones every year would just end up with twelfty chargers and cables.

Of course, they didn't really drop the price by the amount that the included charger/cable cost, so there's definitely a money making aspect to it.

  • Gan prime Anker is the way to go.

    +1

Got one myself, love it, and just bought one for a friend who travels a lot - 100W and three ports is so cool, plus they're even more compact now, with a foldable plug 👍

  • My 15 Pro Max that I ordered early oct turned up the other day.

First time I’ve had a ‘max’ size iPhone. Am liking it so far. I have screws holding my right hand together that restrict the movement in my right thumb considerably, so am used to having to use both hands for most things on normal size iPhones anyway, so the whole thumb reach thing is no different for me compared to old phone. I use my phone a huge amount for work these days, so am very much enjoying the extra real estate on the screen in that regard.

    Camera seems excellent so far.

Have had no overhearing issues as others have mentioned. (iOS 17.3)

Did have a few issues trying to do the whole transfer everything from old phone to new wirelessly thing for first few attempts, as just kept getting error massages on the 15. Updated my old 14 to iOS 17.3 and that seemed to fix the problem.

  • Related to previous post…….

I have been using my old iPhone XR as dedicated radio/spotify device that I just leave permanently connected to my stereo in my studio….. will now use my old 14 for studio music streaming duties which means XR is now surplus to requirements if anyone is after a cheap second hand iPhone?

Perfect working order. A few slight marks to the screen, and some marks to the alloy case on the left hand side. Purely cosmetic though.

    Unlocked
    128GB
    Battery health 90%.

Not sure what it’s worth TBH. EBay prices seem to be £130-£170.

    £100 posted?

  • Thanks very much for the thought dude. I bought one from @El_Topo!

  • If anybody else is after a more current (not the most current...) iPhone, here's a 12 Pro I'm selling: https://www.lfgss.com/conversations/391501/

  • I get that but it was a sore one when they swapped USB to lightening and had to buy another plug.

  • They (finally) are switching from lightning to USB-C, which is great as soon all the things will be USB-C, and you can keep your chargers and just get one or two good USB-C cables and you're sorted for the next ten years 👍

  • Yeah, but since no previous iPhone was usb-c they really should have a charger to get you going.

  • Yeah, but they didn't 🙂

  • I just noticed my M1 Air is always charging to 100%, I thought it was only supposed to charge to 80% by default?

Correct setting seems switched on too.

    Anyone else finding this?

  • if it's like my iPhone then I think it charges to 80% as soon as possible, then it waits until a little while before it expects you to start using it, and then charges to 100%

so for me, I plug the phone in at night and can see it quickly gets to 80%, then stops charging until about 6am, where it then charges the last 20% more slowly.

  • I have a 2017 iPad Pro but the battery is not able to last a day. Should I get the battery replaced or is it time to get a replacement iPad (normal or iPad Air)

  • Is a portable charger a stupid suggestion?

  • £130 at least for a new battery I'd probably just get a new one (do you need the pro tho?)

  • Yeah but it made them another £20 didnt it.

  • Just get a portable charger, cheaper than buying a new one

  • Buy a new one and gift aid your old one to a charity.

  • FOR SALE

Iphone 12 Pro: 512gb, Graphite, 94% Battery health, boxed and comes with a Wave Case (one of those biodegradable ones). Three small very light scratches on the front glass, you can barely see then and can't feel them in day to day use. £350 posted. Can post pics if anyone is interested.

  • iOS VPN - why is it causing me so much grief? Is it tied into family sharing or something?
I have to turn it off to use the interwebs.
