Both known brands, and new brands have stepped up to compete with those companies in some way. I actually think that Isla bikes -being known as the premium brand- stopping production isn't a bad thing for quality kids bikes. A lot of the alternatives don't make massive compromises but do offer a cheaper alternative.
I'll have a look. It seems to me that the companies that specialised in 'proper' kids bikes have largely gone -Isla, Wiggins, Hoy - leaving Frog still going and a couple of others that were extremely costly. But that doesn't consider that other mainstream brands might have expanded and improved their junior offerings.
