@dbr has filled his cavities with thousands of tiny polystyrene balls (ooh err) so he might be able to help.
Personally I don't like the idea of spray anything when it comes to insulation.
Do you know what's under the ground floor?
At that age it should have cavity walls. You can tell by the appearance of the brickwork.
They might not be insulated though.
It's possible to add insulation to the cavity, but it can have side effects.
