  • Mine was only a couple of weeks over the initial website form but more delayed due to me/work failing to arrange the C2W voucher quick enough. They’ve been great to communicate with.

    Collecting this afternoon

  • Call/email and ask will depend on what you want.

  • Thank you everyone except amey.

  • If anyone is here wondering if they want to buy a Fairlight, you are welcome to buy mine (Secan):

  • My Strael said August when I placed the order in January, but turned up in the last week of June. They were very helpful and communicative on email too, and generally lovely when I went and collected it.

Slightly disappointed to have not met Sebastian who, based on his seat post length, appears to be an actual giant.

  • Mine took a month from ordering to arrive.

  • Tell us why this your preference please?

  • Guards on and steerer chopped ready for winter duties. Could’ve done a better job on the rear guard and oddly seem to be missing bolts for the rear flap - anyone else had this experience with PDWs?

  • Really can’t fault my Faran. Perfect for some party pace (by choice not fitness…honest…) road, gravel, single track etc. 2.1 inch tyres roll surprisingly well. Few more weeks then this will get mudguards and skinnier tyres for late autumn/winter/spring.

  • What’s the front rack? It’s just what I’m looking for?

  • Specialized pizza rack

  • Love it.

Just got mine built up in commuter mode which is how it will spend most of its life - rack yet to be added on the back otherwise up and running. Looking forward to putting the miles in on it, there'll be the odd removal of commuting gear and offroad exploits with big tyres on, but a rarity compared to the streets of London!

  • For easy removal of rack for weekend riding I'd recommend the Ortlieb Quick Rack! Bike looks great!

  • Cheers, hadn't heard of that rack but it looks good. Will probably use a more permanent solution as think it will be very unusual that I'll actually have it in that configuration, but will give it some thought.

  • Had an eBay alert that a 61 Fairlight had been added, and as I was looking at it someone else snapped it up. Looked like a bargain at £800 for Secan 2.5 frameset. Seller looked like they also had a load of other Fairlight stuff, so possibly someone who works/worked for them?

  • Celebrating Halloween with the Pumpkin bike (not the best scenery tho)

    ((Edited with a better photo))

  • anyone running 45mm pdw mudguards on their strael v3? no fitment issues etc.?

  • Anyone here who's fitted full guards to a Secan with 650b wheels? Tyres are 47-584 (measuring 48mm wide).

  • Good long term review of the Secan here

  • Very thorough test, with the interesting assertion that the 650b wheel is 'somewhat outdated'. As i've found, tyres from major brands are mostly 47mm, suggesting that this wheel size is generally destined for rougher parcours.

  • I think 650b was pushed to allow bigger tyres over 700c in most frames but it has been slightly killed off by all the new gravel bikes coming out with clearance for 700c 2"+ tyres.

  • No real issues but they weren’t as easy as I’d hoped given strael has all the mounts etc.

I drilled a hole in the mudguard for the rear brake bridge as the hanger it comes with doesn’t work. They sell one that does separately which seems slightly cheeky. I used the spacers that came on the under-downtube bottle cage mount to space the rear guard from the braze ons.

They do look great, as mudguards go, and work really well. No noise from them.

  • I drilled a hole in the mudguard for the rear brake bridge

did the same for my 37mm ones - honestly i think it is fine, it looks extremely clean using a drilled hole

but sounds like they fit ok so will look to get some when i get some bigger wheels/tyres :-)
