Saw someone in the street in an Oxford style shirt in a thin cotton, in a really nice inky charcoal navy colour. Any ideas on who might sell something this colour?

$225 here - so like $250 after tax. So bang on 205GBP. For once you're not getting fucked based on exchange rate, but just because Gitman is so fuckin expensive now for no reason.

Asket has come up trumps for me in the past. Gitman is often on sale at End for half price been lucky to get one for less than £80 recently, Portuguese Flannel also worth a look.

I have a Heimat hat, it's amazing. Superb quality, super thick, proper fishermans effort! Would recommend.

Culturally speaking it’s big no no for JP brands to raise prices and there’s also the incredibly favourable exchange rate these days. A lot of international brands have still not adjusted their prices. 20% savings before the VAT refund is not to be sniffed at.

I posted a few months back about creating a completely UK made sustainable brand. Well we’ve finally got the 1st batch back and things are looking good.

Haven’t managed to get an on-demand model working yet, mainly because we are small, it’s our first time dealing with suppliers and they can’t guarantee production times. But it’s something we want to work towards.

We’ve started with basic staples: Sweatshirts, Hoodies and T-shirts. But will hopefully grow the range as time goes on. All the fabric is 100% organic cotton and knitted here in the UK. We’ve gone for a heavyweight 445gsm for the sweats and hoodies and 265gsm for the tees. And all the clothes are hand made in our workshop in London.

yep. why you would pay that over picking the fabric and perfect fit is beyond me.

Hope it doesn't feel like I'm shooting you down - just curious - when other manufacturer's are manufacturing using recycled cotton, for example, is there any reason you chose to use presumably virgin cotton given sustainability is the name of the game here?

Okay, so, I really like Sean as a person and I've spent a fair few dollars at his store but in hindsight I got bent over a barrel. Its great to go and have a browse and if you're after something very, very specific, he's good cause he can track it down but for example, I paid $350 or something for a 60s Gloverall Duffle and have seen similar condition ones on Etsy and stuff for like $100. And this is when his store was in the arse end of nowhere, not in Dumbo, so probably even more expensive now. But def worth a visit.

Its outrageously expensive but Stock Vintage at 143 E 13th St # 2, New York, NY 10003 has grail workwear from the mid century and before. Really amazing.

Raggedy Threads at 602 Grand St, Brooklyn, NY 11211 is also very good.

These two are very much denim/workwear focused FWIW.

I also really love Nepenthes 307 W 38th St, New York, NY 10018 because I like Engineered Garments a lot. New stuff but just cool stuff, good shoes etc.

Take a deep wallet, they are wild prices out there.

If you're up for hunting around, then West of Flatbush Av and north of Park Slopes always used to have loads of places. I assume other parts of the city do too, and TBF it's a while ago now.

Maybe also have a search on the culturetrip as it might be the sort of thing they refrence or have a section on.

It's purely a quality issue. Recycled cotton has really short fibres that when spun into yarn and then into fabric produces a noticeably inferior product to long fibre virgin cotton. It's still fine, and probably on par with some lower quality fabric, but we are trying to go for super high quality as well as sustainable. We are hoping our clothes will last decades, rather than just a few years.

Really like this jacket but its a bit out of my budget gonna look for a second hand one or if anyone can point me in the direction of cheaper option.
