You could stick one of these in on the left. These are cheap but a few other places sell them now and they all look the same. I had some Wattshop ones which were double dear and shit quality

Ah thanks that might be better than a rattling lever

Chainring arrived within 2 days of ordering, well done drag2zero. Bar end plugs also arrived from ward to replace the unused shifter.
Cable and bb sorted next Thursday and it’s ready to test.. just in time for no more races this year

Eldest son helped me fit cables using the nice wiggle internal cable tool, he was well impressed with the magnet trick!
Chain fitted and mech set up but I’m fairly sure either the mech hanger is bent, or the weird bit on the top of the mech, as it’s basically pointing into the wheel, the chain hits the frame in the smallest cog and doesn’t shift at all well. It was already booked in the mechanic on Friday so will see what he thinks

Glad it wasn’t just me being thick, the hanger was really bent so local mechanic legend fixed that, ran me a full internal cable which is better than what I’d done and we replaced the drop out adjusters as they were wrecked.
Think this bike has had a tough life!
Rode it home and it’s so cool, love the noise a deep front wheel makes.
Pedals, front end adjustment and a rear wheel to finish it. Might get a bike fit as I’m struggling with the front being uncomfortable but I’ll try myself first

I used myvelofit for my tt bike fit and was comfortable enough to do multiple 3 hour rides on it, probably not absolutely perfect but a good starting point

Ok that’s worth a think thanks! I’m ordering some spacers to raise the pads as I think that’ll help comfort and close the scoop between hands and face. Bit more angle on bars needed too

This has escalated into my eldest wants to do the north west kids tri series next year so is on the hunt for a road bike. So far we’ve got this from a mate but it’s too big for now so might need a 24 or 26 inch wheel stop gap.
This one is crazy light for £80!

Thanks to @Colm89 for the tip on myvelofit, I spent a very wet morning inside playing with my tt position then road bike.
On the tt bike which I haven’t actually ridden yet besides a 20 mins roller spin the seat ended up going up 3cm and back 1cm. Bars came up as far as they can for now but are still in the low and short range so I may need a slightly longer stem and more pad raisers.
That should then resolve the hip, back and shoulder angle issues. I’m tempted by the pdq bars which seems to come with a lot of adapters.
Big fan of myvelofit, very easy to use even for a Luddite.
Might still need some fine tuning on cleat set up but I’ll go to someone in person for that if needed once I settle on pedal choice

I think I still have one of Tester's of these somewhere.

Yeah, I'm still rocking a midfoot setup.

One of what?

I’ll play with cleat position when I settle on pedals to use. These are Mtb shoes and pedals just to get me started on it, but I plan to use look or shimano.

The thing in the picture. Bar end butt plug

Gotcha.
Bring a weak person I’ve ordered pdq bars with all the adapters so that should then fix my outstanding fit issues -

I have the selcof/pdq bars and got a set of custom angled risers off timetrialling forum
-
• #69
Cool, I’m not fully set on angled bars yet, every time I’ve tried it they’ve made my shoulders and lats very stiff but I think that was with pads too low so I may try again if I get the basic level set up comfy.

If you don't get bolts in your pdq riser kit I didn't. I've got a bunch of spares here if you need any s, m and l just no xl length

Great thanks. It says you do get them but who knows!

This is finally finished and been outside but currently 1x and I’d really like 2x for long distance races. Did think about electronic gears but that felt like throwing more money at a bad solution, wonder if I can fashion a cable stop somehow?
Bike looks tiny in this pic as I think the brain assumes the plane is a small fighter, but it’s a massive 4 seat Vulcan bomber and the bike is actually huge!

SRAM e tap is a god send for things like this.
Also hip angle on the fit looks great!

Finally put the disc and deep wheels on ready for a sprint next weekend.
And eldest has been out trying his bike and tri kit ready for his race next week.
I rode 65km of the lakesman course, the hilly middle bit, this week and I think the 52x30 gearing is ok but I might try 34 on the back and maybe a 50ring I can find one

Both bikes worked great
And I still can’t remember to relax my head down on a tt bike after a ten year break

May have cheated a bit on the ‘using used parts theme’ but I did sell the rings off the chainset and the other 1x ring I had which was too big and bought a new drag2zero 52tooth.
Edit- posted within 3 hours of ordering. Very good!
Bike is going for the bb out, cable fitted and bb back in next week then I can test ride and play with bar angle.
What do people normally do on the extension where you don’t need a shifter for 1x? Leave the lever on?
