It’s definitely more luxury than the IQ internally, but is it worth 32k more, that’s a personal choice.
-
• #75653
Not a single IQ available on SG Car Mart.
-
• #75654
For sure not but will it still be £32k once you've put another 30k miles on it - probably.
And would it look baller rocking up to nursery pickup in a 300 production run Aston Martin - probably not as no one would have the slightest fucking idea.

Can you import in via Car From Japan?

Can you import in via Car From Japan?
Expecting an answer involving $100,000s

Another ❤️ for the IQ
It's obvs not a family car tho.
If you need cars seats but not rear leg room then the Aygo/derivatives and the Up!/derivatives look decent.
Altho the brief was for something fun wasn't it?

It was.
I mean what's the point otherwise.

Seat recommended a cambelt change at 5 years / 50k miles for my engine (1.4tsi VAG). Was booked for Monday, however dealer now says Seat recommended 15 year intervals.
Seems like quite a jump, fine to cancel and save the money?

I went round and round in circles online looking at the cambelt / timing chain replacement for my 1.4tsi VAG (mk6 Golf).
There seemed to be quite a few instances of skodas having much longer intervals than VW, and also non-UK countries having longer intervals.

Currently have a baby seat in ours...

Cambelt: 15 years, (no mileage figure), seems optimistic
Camchain: properly tensioned at each service, might be possible.
(I'm cam-conscious: a previous diesel Renault Espace threw a cambelt on the M6. Vehicle wasn't worth the engine rebuild cost). -

Fair enough, but you know what I mean. You'd struggle to get a suitcase, travel cot, pram, etc. in the boot.
-
• #75664
Agree, I've spoken to the other half about this but she refuses to get a bigger car.
The plan is to fold the driver side seat down and use that as storage as well as whatever space is left ie. footwells.

Just be mindful of where all that shit will go if you crash (or are crashed into)

• #75666
Massive roof box is the sensible option (which is what I did with the Panda).
-
• #75667
The car is eurocap 5 but I know what you mean. Driving anywhere is a risk with the questionable drivers I’ve see on the road these days.
-
• #75668
Did look into this but the IQ doesn’t warranty a roof box. As it will void the insurance and warranty of the car.
-
• #75669
No, it's if the car flips and it all flies around the cabin at great velocity
-
• #75670
The people over the road have got a Yeti 4x4 with a roof box, the only thing it’s missing is to be jacked up on some steelies and BFGoodriches
-
• #75671
A lot of it depends where you go, what you do and what your kid is like.
Something like the Up! and other VAG versions are compact, have 5 door options and according to Google have a 60kg roof weight limit.
-
• #75672
Up! and it's buddies, as well as Aygo are pretty dull unfortunately. Just small and lightish.
-
• #75673
Annoys me that in this day and age things like the Up! don't even have proper rear door windows either. Pretty sure it's the same on the Aygo and its cousins too.

did 2 x 130mile journeys along the a40 to west wales last weekend in mum and dads 2008 1.9TDI mk.5 Golf, and if VW data can be believed, managed 70mpg each way. had to coast up to the drive on the return leg as had 69.9 on the average fuel consumption with 500meteres to go but got it to 70.
amazed how fuel efficient a 2008 golf is, 130,000 on the clock and still runs lovely, starts first time every time. would recommend as a decent 2nd hand family car -

if VW data can be believed
I think they might have possibly misled someone at some point about how clean and efficient their diesel engines are.
Only 300 built I think. Less than 150 in the UK registered ever.
I think they'd hold their value at £35k even as you put miles on them.
