  • Sandwich bags

  • You can use an old tube cut down to make a tube tube and put them in there. Just make sure it's over length to protect the ends.

  • Seems the sensible option. I can live with the sag, I suppose this is exacerbated by the crap straps.

  • Don't you use that elastic cord at the back? I pull it tight and have no sag. (But my bag is another brand)

  • I do, but this is a support for a much larger dry bag. Pics show empty and laden.

I've ordered some straps and will cut out the stitching on the existing and Hooe it doesn't unthread...

  • I had this same issue, and a problem with the V1 saddle bag. I dont remember what I did with the bar bag, but i did email restrap about the saddle bag and they replaced it.

  • I emailed them asking them for some spacers as I noticed that's what is included now. But they weren't very helpful, perhaps I'll email them about this specifically, see what they say.

  • I found when I had an issue, their default is sorry not our problem, but if you persist they will sort it out.

  • Precisely the "vibe" I got from them.

  • Also have the same problem with Restrap front harness…so much so it has tyre rub marks. Run a front rack these days though (and barely need to use it anyway) but I could see voile straps making a lot of sense.

I used the voile straps with foam spacers to run my bigxtop bag on a rack without the clickfix fastening. Works a treat.

Edit: they were very good about replacing a dry bag that ripped.

  • Did you end up getting any of them?

I might get the green one for 2 people trip looks perfect.

  • Got the green one, not convinced that the red one offers any improvement other than a slightly larger porch. It fits two, but it's pretty snug so you'd want to be on good terms with whoever you're sharing with 😅

Otherwise seems good, although not used it in anger yet

  • I've got the green one and it would be a squeeze for two people unless you're quite close and not taking much.

  • Noiice, Thanks 🙏

Sounds perfect, won't be a problem, I am skinny and my wife is short so will be perfect.

We'll pair with the 2x Decathlon Trekking pad mt500 air S wich measures inflated around 110cm width, leaving a bit of room.

  • I'll see how the straps go, I've asked restrap if they'll replace just the straps too. Not got my fingers crossed.

  • If you're getting new straps then you might be sorted, but depending on both whether that is 25mm webbing (probably) and your handiness with a sewing machine, I have used this style of buckle on a few bags and never had any slipping issues:

    https://www.profabrics.co.uk/collections/outdoor-plastic-buckles-fitments-25mm-buckles-fitments/products/low-profile-strap-buckle-25mm

  • Could you stitch Velcro on the straps and thus fix them when singed down?

  • I did try using self adhesive velcro which worked for about an hour. But the rough stuff won.

@nejib that's my last resort as my sewing is v.poor. shamefully I'd need my mum to help with that one!

  • Pass the straps back forwards under the front of the buckle, this pretty much eliminates the slip.

  • I've probably missed something on this design but most straps are swapped straight out for voile straps. Full credit to the bag makers that just ship with voile straps.

  • Aye, it should, however there isn't enough length given the pointy bit of the buckle.

Thanks for all the help. I faith in Voile to bring the fix.

  • @mcflute I had slippage on an Alpkit bag, was driving me mad. I went for Rok Straps. Game changer. I went for the 16mm version, cinch as tight as you like they won't budge.

Apparently designed by a guy looking to replace bungee cords which were responsible (when letting go) for having folks eyes out.

  • Which happened to me when I was 10 when putting my bike in a trailer. Bye bye left eye! (I didn't lose my eye, just badly scarred and now next to useless)

  • So, Restrap have been much better this time around. They've seen the issue, acknowledged it and have requested I send it in for a repair at their cost. So fair play to them.

  • Q:
is there any local business in London or UK who makes more classic stuff like carradice?
