Could be. We're getting a lot of right wing American shit coming over here these days. But it hasn't been helped by those groups of youths who organised literal looting trips to Oxford Street on tiktok

I know you're talking about recreational use dogs, but I think there is a use case for some of these breeds in certain industries such as the military or security.

So like a Class A, B or C depending how harmful the dog could be?

Exactly. Great mines...

Ideally the government could be advised on this by Professor Mutt

Did I see it described as actually still being a puppy/not actually fully grown?
They are a vanishingly small % of dog population so massively overrepresented in attack statistics. So doesn't really matter if it's the dog or the owner if you get the same outcome.

This brings back memories of two loose Akitas chasing me on bike whilst my daughter was in yepp mini seat upfront. She learned all the swear words in those moments. It was terrifying. They were alongside and snapping at my ankles I knew immediately if they wanted to take me down they could've done so and we were both fucked if they did. Another person rode past us and they decided to chase them instead. It was a fucking awful experience and has affected us both deeply in terms of being around dogs.

I think I am with you these days. Which is nuts considering I’ve never owned a dog and started the dog thread on here.

Much simpler in Singapore - it’s not a case of what you can’t have in terms of dogs, it’s what you can have. Simply pick a dog from this list, if it’s not on the list you can’t have it.

what are the chances of outsprinting one of these on a bike?
Unless you’re regularly winning scratch races at the velodrome, or are sprinting downhill, I’d wager the chances are close to zilch (not zero because the dog could always trip).
Edit - realised you’re talking about outsprinting a bully dog. That’s more feasible, given their approx 25 mph sprint speed. Other big hunting breeds are faster, and accelerate quicker, than most cyclists.

Pitbulls apparently are good for 40kmh so if you can maintain higher than that you might get away

Basic Googling shows that dog bites come from a range of dogs.
An expert on dog-human interaction and dog bite attacks says that all dogs are a risk. The evidence suggests that all dog breads are a similar risk of aggressive behaviour, the only variation between breeds is that bigger dogs can do more harm.
Another issue is that owners tend more and more to have their dogs in all areas of the home increasing the risk of harm to children, again regardless of breed.

i've seen a woman walking (or rather being dragged by) one of these big muscular dogs on my commute a few times recently, before the latest attack hit the news.
it looks as if she has barely any control over it.
this is on a shared use path that has lots of school kids walking, running, scooting along it at the same time.
i'm always a bit wary when passing as i don't want to startle it or give it any reason to chase me.
