• When I asked about avoiding burping in my rear tire and @dancing james suggested…

you could raise pressure or try tyre inserts…

I went out with a good 40+ psi in the tyre next time and it’d already leaked by the time Id ridden the 3½ miles to the trails so I don’t think it was actually burping, rather just a shit seal at the bead.

I played around with pressure at the trails and there seemed to be a real narrow line between being so hard it felt wooden and going all squirmy wormy. It didn’t really burp any more at the trails but I don’t think I was riding very hard as I was worried about it and some hard carves on tarmac as I was getting home definitely made it burp all over the place.

I took the tire off and re taped the rim but got in such a mess refitting it and it was still leaking/leaking worse from the same spot at the bead that I ended up giving up and chucking a tube in.

Rode Glentress yesterday with a tube in and it was fine but I’m not loving how the tyres feel for cornering so think I might replace them and hopefully can get something that’ll seat and seal a bit better.

So, TLDR, recommend me a 29er tyre around the 2.6” width that should set up nice and easy. Maxxis DHF/R? There seems to be a million different versions?

Also sealant, I’m currently using muc off and I’ve got about 3/4 of a litre bottle left but is it shit? Stans, Orange seal?

  • I got a 1000lm of muc off in their sale and it’s shite, I’m still using it because I’m tight, but it’s awful. Even OKO lawn tractor tyre sealant is far better.
