Watched Dune last night. Watched Dune tonight. Villeneuve followed by Lynch. Quite enjoyed both tbh. Villeneuve’s is obviously slicker and benefits hugely from not trying to cram everything into one film (which as Lynch demonstrates simply isn’t possible), but Lynch’s version has a weirdness that throws Villeneuve’s more sanitised vision into relief. Shame there isn’t a Jodorowsky version to watch tomorrow night.
I’d been postponing re-watching (finishing) Lynch’s until after Dune 2 in a couple of months, but given that’s delayed now until March, I’ll probably stay up late one evening this week and get the DVD on.
