You're looking at the heel rub, @Carabo is talking about the different colouration across the face of the crack.
@iC you don't happen to work for Miche do you? Just that "Unless there is an impact these cranks should last a long time." sounds very similar to "...they must have been crashed..." which was Miche's response to the 60 odd sets we had with cracks.
Going by the uneven colouration on the crack surface the crack might have started a while ago.
