Are these still the best tubeless commuting tyres @amey?

I have no experience of Almotion sadly! Only Supreme, dont think I ever had the tubeless variety of those either.

How do these compare to modern clinchers? Gp5000 etc
-
• #9933
For half the price they are 80% as good in some ways but cotton casing makes them better in others

I have heard that Jan Heine does not make black tyres anymore, at least most of the models will not be available in black color anymore, because the reason for it is that in the US all the people like tan wall tyres. I had a look to get Switchback Hill (650Bx48) in extralight variant & black color, to have in stock at home, but not available =( I know that people make jokes about my tyre choice on the two group rides I make in a year, but who cares, I love fat slickies. Gravelkings, Pari-Motos, WTB Horizons or even black Ultradynamico Cava tyres are the options? Maybe I should make a niche tyre company, with the first tyre being a 650B x 2,2" Grasshopper front wheel style profile, black color and some bold letters on it, which all makes probably no sense, but why not.

Interestingly feel like one of the bike pack ing dot com people was saying they don't run tan wall tyres anymore because they find they leak sealant + lack sidewall protection, though they said there are "some exceptions".
Whatever the case, I would support your tyre brand as I am team black sidewall.

I checked the usual shops who sell those in Europe, and afterwards asked a German frame builder whose bikes are mostly built around these tyres. Jan Heine (I always say the Ken Rockwell of the bike world) rode one of his bikes with - now also not available - black 55 millimeters knobby tyres, I can’t spell the name of the model.
Great, I don’t know anything about having a tyre business, I guess an amount of money is needed to prototype, and check the minimum order quantity? No kickstarter. Great would be to produced at some European tyre company in contrast to the US niche brands ordering at Panaracer. It would be easier for traveling and communication, same time zone, etc

Maybe just get Schwalbe to make a g-one speed on the g-one all round 27.5 x 2.25 carcass?
Maybe the all round would suit you enough actually?

Zaffiro are now £12.99 at wiggle.

Not sure if this is the right thread to ask this but I have some very old Mavik Aksium Race wheels that according to spec sheet take up to 32c in width. Would I be able to use 35c (thinking Pasela, wired)? Or are they gonna pop off?

I’d bet your life on it being fine : )
But really, 17mm would be ok with 35mm, especially with what Panaracer calls 35mm. -

ah thanks, that's what I was hoping to hear!

Looking for a cheaper alternative to G-one's and GK's, has anyone tried the Continental Contact speeds in 35c?
-

Anyone here used 30c or 32c tyres on Mavic Ellipse wheels??

Guilty, no worries at all, in fact I had some 41mm surly Knards on them for a while. Comedy ballonieness, but I didn’t die.

I used them on my Tricross and was pleased, fast rolling with decent off-road grip. Essentially same as previous gen Sport Contact II which are widely applauded on this forum.

Anyone have any views on the state of these tyres?
They are Specialised S-Works Turbo 2Bliss in 700x26c about 12-15 months old and have done a few thousand km I guess. I am concerned by the amount of cracking and the gazillions of little chips of stone and glass the cracks are picking up.

Should be good for another 10,000 km

Hardly a traditional bargain but Tredz have the 2023 (made in Italy) versions of the Pirelli P- Zero TLR tyres in 26 and 28c for £40 a pop (if you use the 10% code that's on offer at the moment).
I've used the older versions for a while now and they're really good and when compared against the price of Conti Gp5000 and Corsa Pros £40 a tyre is pretty good in the current market.

Looks like a barn find, I'd be pissed.
I loved these tyres but found they cut up super easily, lasted nowhere near as long Corsas.
