Potentially, I’d not heard of them prior to the job coming in but it would appear they’re an established young artist/guitarist who’s being hyped by fender and the music press over the last year or so.
Had a listen, pretty cool.SKB touring case for it turned up today. Absolutely beast of a case weighing nearly 10kg but reckon you could run over it with a truck. It’s bloody tight fit as the mirror adds 2mm to all edges but reckon I can massage the hard foam back a bit with a roller to ease things up a bit.

Anyone built their own valve amp? Blues junior style built into a retro portable record player case would be my route.
Recommendations for kit suppliers etc welcomed. -

A few here have. I’ve always wanted to but been put off by cost and not having the space (or skill). I would say, if you’re gonna do it, do a classic design!

I did it with Vyse Amps and had a brilliant time - it was a two day course to build a 1w practice amp, point to point hand wired, in Barry's shed. If you're more confident he sells kits too, lots for classic Fender/Marshall designs. https://vyseamps.com/index.html

I've been looking at gold foil pickups and found that Fender have released a whole range of gf kitted guitars. Great sound and playing: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dCIqTGXPPdo

Put the stock speaker back into my Super Champ, the grass isn't always greener, eh? All is well again.
On the downside the tremolo on my Jag managed to get stuck while I was testing the amp, I think it's caught on something and won't release properly. I've had no end of trouble with that tremolo ever since I got it. 😶
Anyway, I'll just play with the new B-Bender 'til I can get it fixed.
EDIT: Turned out it was the tremolo lock button was stuck, fixed now but I think I want to delete that feature, I've never been able to make it work properly, fucking useless. 🤷

Nice to have someone reject a gear upgrade on "meh - i prefer it how it was" grounds rather than conclude that actually what i need to do to make it better is upgrade XYZ as well! Satisfying conclusion.
I need to sell some stuff I think. Money's gonna be tight the next little while and I have so much crap sitting about. Will make a list this week and take some pics.

Interesting, I was considering a G10 Gold for my Cornell Stinger/Romany thing 'cos I find the Jensen C10Q a bit shrill, and the Gold does sound really really good on some youtube demos, but it won't fit - the magnet cover would hit the output tube.
So that saved me £120+ even for a used one.
Mind you now I fancy trying an Emi GA10-SC64... which would fit...

Honestly, this little amp is absolutely perfect, I was crazy to think I could improve it. It's been a good lesson, if it ain't broke, etc. ☺️

Those Cornells pop up on Gumtree and Marketplace for really reasonable money round here. When I'm a bit more liquid I fancy giving one a try.
Edit. whoops. I meant Cornford obvs. Think they used to me made round here (Whitstable). Looking on facebay now there's a Harlequin and a Plexi 7 for £375 each and a Hurricane for £700...
I did some recording with a Hurricane when I first started playing in bands again in my mid 20s. It was too polite for my tastes at the time, but i suspect i'd dig it more now. £350ish for a handwired valve amp is pretty cool really innit.

When I was living in kent about 20 years ago ish when these were new, quite a few people were using them in local bands as they were getting substantial mates rates on them. Macs music in herne bay rated cornford amps very highly and he only sold stuff he believed in rather than stuff he could easily sell. They were rated quite highly in general back in the day.
The bloke who designed them also made some high end amps with his mate that didn’t get any real attention under the name wkz. Those would probably give a lot for the money if you could find one.

Ha! Exactly. Very Saxondale.

Heh, the Harlequin in Facebay was bought from Macs in Herne Bay 20 years ago according to the ad.

It's a fucking zoo round here sometimes. Went to the beach at the weekend to see an airshow with the kids. The pig-people of Thanet were swarming.

Close to "finishing" my set up.
Just swapped out a Vox AV15 for a Blues Jr IV. I'm after more mellow than crunchy vibes.
Suddenly the Klon clone is super washed out so will likely swap it for a tube screamer at some point, when I'm in the mood for dirt.
THEN I'm done...Appreciating the mid-life crisis that made me pick up a guitar again for the first time a couple of decades.
Pretty happy with where I've landed after 8 months.
Bikes and guitars eh.
