  • the red door. felt very much like they decided to just forgo a script in light of the writers strike and just do what they did in the other insidious shoots from memory.

weird side note relating to "the further" or whatever they call the other world in the film, when I was about 15/16 and used to drink on the top of the multi storey car park opposite basildon police station there was like a 3 week period where like 90% of my friends believed they could self-hypnotise themselves into something they called the zone by laying down with their eyes closed. they would then get up and run around excitedly regaling each other with the shit they were getting up to in this "upside-down"esque place which was apparently inhabited by other people who also knew how to do this in the local area and they were able to interact/fight said people and would come-to and say things like "we need to go and get this guy over in he tried to kill me". one particularly susceptible girl on some pretty hardcore meds who stalked one of my coworkers from the bowling alley even "got stuck" and my friends spent like 90 minutes trying to "wake" her up

it was like some weird peer pressured mass hysteria but for a few weekends I was subjected to having to sit quietly to the side drinking my 12 pack of cheap lager rapidly losing any semblance of respect I might have had for these people. my best mate who should have known better tried it and quietly confided in me later on how disappointed he'd been when he tried it and it hadn't worked despite me having watch him show his whole arse and embarass himself by joining in anyways. I pointed out that his experience was identical to all the others, they just didnt admit it.
