That portaloo didn’t work; there’s still so many flies on the climbs.

The pair-a-knees joke must be nuked or sent to the middle-aged thread

approximately all of them! Most UK operators do not have luggage racks this big.

Ha I forgot about that. I think it was spelled wrong and then I forgot to edit it back to correct spelling.

If the train is full of people, do they actually stop you when you have a long piece of luggage which may or may not contain a bicycle?
-
• #336
I have been stopped before (even wrapped up); but it was a while ago. You are at the mercy somewhat though :(

A36 after a cappuccino in Ventimiglia. Challenging on the road bike. That’s it in the alps for this month.

Any tips for lesser known climbs in the Vosges? I’m going to be there next week for a few days

The north is generally low-key.
Champ du feu from all sides is quite nice, especially coming from grendelbruch or via Struthof. Col du Donon from the east is pretty deserted.
Col de fouchy, collet du linge, col de ribeauvillé are all cool little passes taking you from one valley to the other.
Col du bonhomme is pretty famous.
Note, gradients are pretty tame in the vosges apart from the TdF ones in the south. -

Merci monsieur. There are some pretty decent looking loops over at https://www.cycling-challenge.com/vosges_cycling_map/
It may well be that I’ll head to the Jura after a day or two in the Vosges.

Back from 7 straight days riding out of Bourg-Saint-Maurice. Tough week, heatwave had the Garmin reading 40+ degree C in the sun, even above 1,000m. First time I've not needed layers on the Cols and a balmy 28 degrees C on the top of Iseran.
A pleasant suprise was the relatively new cycle lanes and tunnels following the Isère river through the valley and connecting up the rides. From Bourg it was possible to tick off..

Nice pictures and looks like you've done every climb nearby.. I stayed a night in Bourg Saint Maurice when I did the Grand Tour des Alpes a couple of weeks ago..Good memories.. I think i cycled on the same cycle path towards the Iseran but I didn't realized there are new tunnels as well..
¯_(ツ)_/¯
