I also managed to throw myself off the bike by locking my front wheel. Because I’m a fucking idiot. Very nearly new brake pads, I changed rotors the night before to stupid purple ones, and didn’t account for them sitting a bit inboard. So my the end of a wet muddy day with lots of braking, the inside front pad wore through and got pulled right through the calliper, munching through the retaining pin, and wedging between the calliper opening and the rotor.
I had to do the final 15-20km with no front brake, feeling like a complete idiot.
the bike was grand for offroad, as you're finding. I think the biggest barrier to mixing road and off road use, now i have 2 sets of wheels, is that I'd like wider bars off road.
