  • Has anyone managed to fit a rear rack to a cdf that sits lower than the one pictured (tortec ultralight)

I've got a tubus Vega also but that sits about the same height with the added complication that it hits the seat stays when I try and level it.

  • I suspect most racks will have the same/similar length struts if they are fixed. So maybe finding a rack that has adjustable struts (think there were some that adjust 26”-29”) that you may get to sit lower. I’ve found the CDF rack mounts do sit a bit high on the seat stays, and on mine I’ve added a couple of spacers (think they came with the tubus rack) to space the legs out a touch to clear the upper mounts and get it level

  • So pleased to have found this thread. Long term CDF owner here.

This is my 2012 CdF. It's one of the final straight-legged fork models. It’s the most comfortable steel disc brake fork I’ve ridden (and the most flexible). 🤷‍♀️

I bought this frameset for £120 (!!!) from Pinkbike in 2013. It got me into road riding and I rode it for years with a horrible bar-end shifter setup. I rode my first double century on that build.

In 2018, it got a tasty 105 R7000 upgrade. I’ve since switched to an inline post and a longer stem to match the fit of my other bikes (red saddle bag pic).

It now lives at my parent's house as a frankly-too-nice-bike to ride when I’m back in Scotland.

  • This makes me miss mine. God damn.

  • Does anyone have a 2011-2014 CDF in 58 or 60 c-t that they want to get rid of ??

Same model dropouts as above, please PM.

  • I much prefer those dropouts to the kind on my CDF and Day One. Much more refined.

  • I like the agricultural drop outs. Also the post 2014 cdf has more clearance and higher stack. #cdfcivilwar #team2015

  • Not going argue with clearance being good - I’ve got 40mm tyres in my CDF and Day One with plenty of room for mud.

  • Higher stack, lower vibes

  • Just got this

  • Hey gang, moving house so unfortunately selling my 2017 CDF 30. Frame is a 52cm. Post here: https://www.lfgss.com/conversations/391406/

  • In what is becoming my annual check, nobody is selling a 58 (L) frameset are they?

  • you regret selling yours still huh?

  • I still got it, just need a smidge more seat tube. I sold all my other bikes but the cdf remains ✊

  • Has much changed on it?

  • Changed nothing to be honest. If I get a larger frame it'll probably motivate me to fit hydraulic discs, but if anything having a cheaper and easy to fix components has been a godsend when touring.

  • Any interest in my modified Fugio 853? It’s a 58TT, rides really well, but max tyre size about 40. Could offer with groupset as well if any interest in GRX 600.

  • Interesting... can I ask what year it is to find a geo chart? Need to use a steel fork though for front loaded touring so may need to run a steerer/headset spacers. Hmm.

  • Yeah surly run straight steerers on quite a few 44mm head tubes doesn’t look as bad as you would think. I do have a Fyxation carbon fork that I originally bought for it but didn’t end up using which has various mounts.

Think it’s 2014, the original Fugio, geo charts seem scarce.

  • Sorry for the sinfully late reply. Been down a rabbit hole of which direction to go frame-wise, seems things aren't as cheap as they used to be. Go figure. Think I'll hold out for a CdF if that's ok, it's worked well this long so reluctant to mess with the recipe.

Other than changing from 54/56/58 to S/M/L, does anyone know if CdF geometry has changed over the years? Might just be my tired eyes but newer frames appear to have a less horizontal TT.

  • My search skills are failing me. I have a 2014 Croix de Fer 725 (the bronze coloured one). I was planning on selling it but might keep it as my “road” bike.
I remember there being some discussion aaaages ago on the best full carbon fork to replace the somewhat heavy aluminium one. Can anyone remember or has a suggestion?

  • No worries, I felt mild guilt as had a 58 CDF frame hanging unused. Built it back up now as commuter/bad weather bike. Not had time to fit the racks and guards but been out on a shakedown this morning, forgot how much I like the bike.

Did you find a 58 in the end?

edited after a productive 2 hour toddlers nap - need to sort front mudguard later
