• I've been eyeing up a Swiss Cross for fast-ish bikepacking, since I find many gravel bikes a bit slack in the geo. If I'm gonna do a full build I reckon it would be in the +£3k range, which is a big leap without a test ride or anything of the sort.

Very tempted by this offering on eBay, just curious what the Ritchey crowd here thinks about the price and the deal.

  • Price seems a little high with how worn the frame is. All the WCS kit leans in its favour though. I got mine (frame & forks) on eBay a few years back & it was unused for £660.

They do inevitably get bashed around though, mine is a matte black now, no longer the lovely shiny thing it once was. Fab frame though, thoroughly enjoy mine.

  • That is a sick rig.

Yeah, the frame is pretty darn scruffy, but I'm assured its all cosmetic (scratches and chips only). Small dent in one rim. Problem is the bike is in Bristol, which is a bit of a trek from Hackney for a test ride. If anyone local has a 54 I could give a quick spin, I might be swayed to dive right into a £3k dream build.

Thing is the spec on the eBay one is pretty much exactly how I'd build it myself.

  • So I'm more keen on buying new and building my own, with a setup very similar to yours. I have a few questions though:

    1. How do you find the Swiss Cross for bikepacking?
    2. How do you find 1x for bikepacking? What's your cassette and chainring?
    3. How did you fit that third bottle cage???
