You must be taking a lot of sandwiches if that's not enough saddlebag.

Looks so so good! Bravo. I might just have to go and get myself some PDWs now...(!)
-
• #284
Thank you! I cannot recommend the PDWs enough. So solid, the struts are nice and beefy so there’s almost no wobble, adjustment is really easy. Make SKS look a bit crap tbh. No escaping that they’re £120 for the big ones tho.

This is looking really good, i'm going to do something similar with my Steamroller whilst i'm injured/sick of shit mudguards. Are you able to get the back wheel out with the struts fixed to the frame like that or does it need to go in deflated? And how's the overlap with 45mm guards on a 35c tyre in fixed mode?

have someone replace the leather straps on your nelson with poly webbing and plastic buckles/clips
I did this and have no regrets. Huge improvement on the fiddly leather straps and cheaper than buying a whole new bag

• #287
That’s the next craft project sorted then!
Just need to source some nice plastic buckles as the ones I have are a bit shite. Probably worth buying some nice patterned webbing too. -

Toe overlap is ok, obviously exacerbated by it being a small frame and then adding mudguards too. But the steering geometry means that toe overlap only really happens when track standing with the wrong foot forward. I had a CX bike where I was constantly bashing the front wheel but I don’t notice it at all on this when riding.
I can get the back wheel off by dropping the wheel straight down, as they’re Phil hubs, there’s no axle in the way.

May I recommend you get some fibre washers for the bolts on the PDW guards? you'll want some flex in the fixings otherwise the metal guards are a risk of shearing. I sheard both front and rear guards (and have moved t0 SKS Blumels) - I don't think I'm the only one it's happened to. PDW guards are lovely ofc but really recommend this.
Also recommend dynamo and 65/66gi. Stick with this ratio and you can do anything (except ride the velodrome or compete in CX). Nice build! I hope to see it at the next HDIJ

I think I’d kill myself trying to descend at 40mph at anything lower than 70 GI tbh. I’d say I’m at a decent limit for both up and down with that. Just a bit of HTFU here and there.
Duly noted about the washers. Will try and nab some from work. Nylon will do I imagine.
But do explain, what is this HDIJ you talk of?

Also also nylock nuts or they will shake loose and you will want to rip the fucking things off and hoy them into a field.

Hey if the GI works for you then that's that!

Nylocked up already :)

Oh fuck yeah. I’m down (I’ll have to be to get there from Leeds har har).
I’ve been thinking that I’m a bit goalless at the moment. Thinking I might try a fixed century in the next few weeks. Did one in my early 20s on this lo-pro. Ah, the folly of youth! It did at least have a front brake, but was on air wings, haha.
