If our service techs encounter a stripped screw in the field on thin sheet metal they drill it out to 4mm and put a pop rivet in

Our aging dishwasher has finally died and needs replacing.
Anyone with first hand experience of a Bosch
Series 6 SMV6ZCX01G? -

We have one of the slightly more expensive sister models Siemens SN85TX00CE, pretty good but the touch buttons can be a bit laggy. Another issue is, it kinda smells after the 'drying cycle' when it first pops the door, even after a year of daily use.
The Miele outlet (this thread should have the link somewhere) seems to have few integrated options at the same price point (at B2 grade, we have a B2 dryer it was practically perfect) you might want to give that a go instead.
Your main issue with getting an integrated dishwasher will be the cabinetry. Make sure you can get the cabinet doors in the same colour... I found ours at eBay, still not 100% but pretty close. Our plinth (had to be replaced to be a single piece) is a completely different white though, but I think it's aged a little bit since and not that noticable. (if you're replacing an already integrated dishwasher so planning to reuse the 'slab', I would double check the dimensions are exact and mounting holes wouldn't clash... but not sure how to do that second thing without taking it off first...)

Stupid Miele induction just blew it's second circuit, 23 year old De Dietrich to the rescue. Now back to cooking like when we were renting.

Great info, cheers

I find the push to open on our Siemens really finicky. The door opens at the slightest touch and can be a ballache to get to latch closed sometimes.

Yeah if you have a table in the kitchen (and one of the chairs is in front of the dishwasher) it becomes a bit fiddly. I wish there was a way to disable that.

Does anybody have experience with www .appliancecentre. co. uk ?
They look like a legit website and have lots of Trustpilot reviews but they
only accept payments through Worldpay which is odd and both my
HSBC cards got declined even though they sent confirmation codes etc. -

Have you called hsbc? Since all the money laundering scandals their fraud systems are a lot more proactive than other banks, can be annoying when they put blocks on random transactions but they've also blocked auto renew payments that I've forgot to turn off.

I only did the chat function but they said they don't see declined transactions. I will call them tomorrow when the phone lines of the shop are open too.

Cool, no idea about the appliance centre but I just checked their website and it looks way too nice for a scam website, they show up on street view as well.

Turns out my location from my laptop was showing up as Canada for the payment processor, it does work from my phone. When I called the shop they knew straight away what the issue was.

Can't trust those sneaky Canadians!

Out of interest what's with the paper towel under your pot and what temperature is it at?
-
• #1419
It's a pressure cooker and when I put the lid on without tightening it it will keep dripping from the overhanging edge, the paper towel absorbs it.
-
• #1420
Assuming the temperature is quite low?

I also had it under a cast iron pan with a rough bottom and at high temperatures, the worst that happened was it turned a bit golden brown. Just keep it under fahrenheit 451.

Interesting, thanks

Moving into our first owned (read: mortgaged to the eyeballs) house next week, and in need of the basics i.e. washing machine, fridge freezer, and a dishwasher (a luxury I’m way too excited about). All the £300 or so options look like the same white boxes to me, so anyone able to give a steer on brands to avoid, other guidance etc?
I’m sure this has been asked a million times but I’m failing to search well. Thanks in advance.

Might be worth doing a Which trial.

I just write down the features I need and then get the cheapest that foots the bill. Maybe its something to do with being a Yorkshire lad......
Hi @mcmyk Idk if you'd be able to suggest something. The metal the machine screws screw into is now a bit fucked and rusted away. As a result the bottom two screws holding on the back panel don't bite.
Would it be safe to use something like a bit of jb weld to build it back up to give the screw something to bit into?
The proper solution I guess is a nut+washer+bolt but that means removing the oven again, and sourcing the bits. Whereas I have jb weld and can reach into the oven without removing it.
