So id like to get a rack for the front so I can chuck my dog in a padded basket. Im not so sure how he will take to it although likes hanging out the car window to get the air in his face.
Has anyone done this? Hes only 10kg so not super heavy and will just be cutting about to see friends or go from a to b without having to take hours with him stopping and sniffing and pissing every 5 yards.

I'd get something nice and sturdy like a Surly Nice rack if you're bike can take it. Although that pizza rack is 15kgs, so could work fine.

I say go for it, if only for the little skater pack.

Convinced a friend down the road to get one (I'm saving for my own) and it's ace. All the weight low is good. He carries two kids and shopping about happily.
If you're in the UK they'll post out a frameset but not a full bike. If you want a full bike in the UK you've gotta got to Paris to collect.
Brexit.

Can anybody see an issue with me welding a couple of nuts to the head tube of my steel bike to mount a Brompton rack mount block? It would look neater than having a rack on all the time and I have a couple of bags to fit.

Just get an inner tube or cargo net if things are flying out.
I hate panniers.

Awesome, thanks team. That's what I needed. I'll be in Germany so hoping they'll deliver a complete that far. Brexit is such a bummer

Looks good to me :)

Got a possibly dumb question about the restrap rando bags. Since the attachment system is magnetic at the bottom of the bag, and presumably it's a strong magnet, how would that interact with a phone or a credit card that I might stash at the bottom? Shouldn't strong magnets destroy hard drives? Seems like a bit of a design oversight?

Does anyone know if it's possible to fit a Tortec Ultralite rack to this bike? No matter what I do I can't seem to get the left seat stay attachment to clear the brake caliper.

Longer bolt + spacers for the left fitting?

Going to have to be 20 mm or so. That's a lot of washers. Would it be stable with a load on the rack?

Yeah good point, might be a bad place to put leverage.
Maybe look around SJS rack spares to see if they sell some fittings that 'convert' to a single bolt fitting so that you can mount it on the caliper bolt? I can't tell from the pic, but can you run just a bent flat bracket thing? Not sure how to articulate, but just a simple flat plate that attaches to the caliper bolt, bends over the caliper, and has a few bolt holes, one of which attaches to the bottom of the rack platform?

Thanks, looks like it needs a 'custom' solution. Not sure why Genesis bothered putting a mount there if you can't use it. Just a tick box exercise to say it's 'rack compatible' I guess.

Something like the bracket from this rack.

I run a similar rack sometimes with just one stay attachment (because lazy) that is positioned to the centre of the rack. Mine does attach inside the seat stay rather than outside like yours. The other thing that worked nicely for my front rack was a strip of meccano bought from eBay and bent with a vice then painted.

Liking the meccano suggestion

I've got a similar problem with a Hamax child seat and I'm looking at using a centre pull brake caliper instead, which doesn't have the protruding arm. Dia Compe do some quite nice ones.
Edit: although looking again at your brake, even that might not give you enough clearance.

Thanks, but I’m looking for a low/no-cost solution so don’t want to change the brake. Already have the rack lying around not being used.

Fair enough. I managed to get an old Weinmann for a fiver from my LBS, but I'll still need a cable hanger and new pads. This sort of thing is never as easy or as cheap as it could be!

This is probably a stupid idea, but could the brake be fitted the other way round, i.e. on the other side of the bridge?

You could just use the drive side strut in it's own, unless you're putting a huge load in the panniers it won't make a huge difference to the strength or stability!
I guarantee the bag will attract curiosity from Serious tourers. They will think your bike is probably one of a fleet of five, each optimised for a special purpose. You can trump them by saying "I bought this bag for my Stanforth Conway. I like using it for shopping because it reminds me of my trip to Bhutan."
