    2023-04-26: 98.1 kg
2023-05-03: 98.1 kg (although I was 97.45kg after the gym today, but basically 0% water given my zwift workout)

Getting there, took a week off running as I'm strapped for time given work, family and bank holidays. Three more weeks until Ride 100 and then I'll switch from Zwift to the pool (in prep for Swim Serpentine 2 mile swim in September). Will keep up one or two gym bike sessions a week though hopefully.

Next major goals are 95kg early June and then 90kg by the time I go on holiday mid August.

  • Absolutely shat the bed, about 6 kg over weight with an Ultra next week. Im hoping there is a Caravan Towing Award when I finish.

Excuses: Lost my way after a bout of Covid.

  • Have also completely shat the bed. Currently 101kg ideal weight is around 85kg. Had a health scare for the first time in my life recently. I was literally sick with worry and didn’t eat much for two weeks, that took me down to 95kg from 102kg, results came back saying that I was in the clear, celebrated my life not being cut short with a kebab. Every day. For a month.

  • Reminds me of a period of uni when I pretty much had a kebab and tub of ben and jerrys every evening. Not the healthiest diet, though 19 year old metabolism burned through a small portion of it.

  • Pre-divorce me was doing up to 20 hours a week of cardio (because slevless), and nailing up to a half litre tub of haagen dazs each evening.

Until it was pointed out that the insulin spikes that sort of sugar intake induces can leas to diabetes.

  • Jeezy peeps min, glad to hear you're no at deaths door.

Best reign in the kebabs now though or you might be soon enough.

Similar here but less extreme, hardly ate for 3 or 4 weeks n when my appetite came back I went mental and went back to old ways. Put the weight lost back on and completely over shot the runway. Hey ho. Work it out eventually.

  • Arguably shish kebabs in a pitta with loads of salad and chilli sauce is a really healthy and balanced meal.

Doner meat with chips and garlic mayo, not so much.

  • 87.2>85>83.9>79.95

Wedding this weekend, sub-80 achieved as hoped, really pleased with that. I think as a chronic glutton finding a happy medium in which I can eat reasonably (basically skip breakfast, small lunch and 'healthy' dinners throughout the week and whenever I want at weekends within reason) and run a consistent deficit has been really pleasing. Now to undo it all on honeymoon...

  • Very trim. You could save another kg if you had a decent shave.

  • Lost half of it since you last saw me. Maybe that explains the weight drop...

  • Oh hai… been struggling to get my mind in the right place for weight loss again all year, training has been going mostly well but drinking too regularly, and my natural tendency to over eat when training hasn’t been kind to my weight, a combo of getting tendinitis in my ankle (probably as a result of being too heavy), and racing coming up seem to have lit a fire in me..

    16/05 81.8kg 24.3% bf and 86cm waist
    22/05 79.8kg 23.4% bf and 84 cm waist

Pretty pleased with that on top of 17.5 hours of triathlon training last week, not the strictest keto diet but pretty good, there were a couple of bonks along the way but I always have an emergency gel with me just in case!

  • Been slacking on this for a while, due to being busy with work, stress, rental house renovations etc.

Feeling fairly strong and not too chubby, but would like to go into July a bit leaner and a fair bit lighter.

Got a wedding on 1st July so giving myself 4 weeks to make (hopefully) massive progress.

Daily updates and grumbles about being hungry and moody to be expected.

    Target 80

It's been a while since I last updated this thread, but I hit under 82kg for the first time today (10kg down in the first 3 months of the year, then 1 kg in the 3 months after that).

I've all but stopped doing any sort of restricted calorie intake, focusing on maintenance and not being a glutton (like last time I did all of this).

I'm pretty pleased that I seem to be levelling out at a reasonable 82kg, with a diet that is easy (and pleasant!) to keep up.

There's a temptation to drop a couple of kilos, but if I don't, I won't be too upset, and I'm equally tempted just to stick where I am.

  • 1/1/23 - 77.1
    16/1/23 - 75
    24/1/23 - 73.9
    7/2/23- 73.3
    14/2/23 - 72.8
    14/3/23 - 72.6
    ...
    15/5/23 - 73.7

Three and a bit weeks of bike touring

    12/6/23 - 71.3

I pretty much survived by eating bread and soft cheese and quite a bit of booze so I think some more weight will drop off in the next week or so. Main thing is that I'm feeling great on the bike after a couple years of not riding much.

  • New to this thread.
Kinda changed my frame of mind to get my BMI back to normal, I've never seen it as a diet I've just changed my lifestyle a bit. Was never a big drinker so stopped that at Christmas and swapped out things like crisps for popcorn.

  • So last update in here was 3 months ago and weight loss had been pretty inconsistent, as below

    81.1kg > 79.1kg > 78.9kg > 77.9kg > 78.9kg > 79.8kg > 78.9kg > 3 week gap > 77kg

But now 3 months later down to 75.3kg, with the general trend for the last couple of weeks being down somewhere around 76. Was always planning on a slow burn weight loss over the year rather than anything dramatic, but pleased to have finally got things properly and steadily heading in the right direction.

Cutting out eating at home past 7:30 has been a real game changer. Obviously have broken that a couple of times when tipsy or with guests or whatever, but as a general day to day rule it does keep away a lot of the mindless grazing that was piling calories on towards the end of the day.

  • Obviously faux, but managed to ‘lose’ 4kg today via a 3hour 45 tennis match

  • 16/05 81.8kg 24.3% bf and 86cm waist
    22/05 79.8kg 23.4% bf and 84 cm waist
    11/07 74.8kg 20.1% bf and 79cm waist

Progress has been a bit slower than last year, did keto for a few weeks but it’s really difficult to maintain with training and life, having read ultra processed people by chris van tulleken, it’s really struck a chord and has enabled a more steady weight loss but also a full training load and still hitting good numbers in those sessions…

Would like to get below 74kg by the time I do Ironman in 4 weeks, which seems doable, but I’d rather arrive healthy and fit..

  • I'm back on it. Slipped out of routines let my diet go. So back to watching what I eat also I've started having alcohol again. Wich I think is a big factor. As a hung over day means earing shit and not moving about much. The booze is out the window again

  • Dr Xand > Dr Chris though, amirite kids?

  • New to this thread, but am on a big self improvement drive, including my first ever real attempt at weight loss.

    17 Jul 23 : 89.5kg

    Target 80kg

Measuring daily with new BT scales that should help motivate (shiny gadget mmmmm).

Recently gone back to being teetotal and am planning to increase cycling whilst also avoiding snacking. If that doesn't cut the mustard then I'll have to think about something a bit more involved.

  • Cutting out booze is a big one - that should probably go a long way (depending on how much you drink)

  • Well, as you can imagine given that I am going completely booze free, for the second time, I was no shrinking violet when it came to the demon drink.

    #recovery #washboardstomachforAugust #lol

  • Booze is certainly a big driver of weight gain for me, both the calories consumed plus years of social conditioning to eat shit alongside it and to cure the hangover the next day…

Seem to have blitzed through my target, 73.3kg this morning, still 3kg heavier than my lightest last year but at the moment I don’t feel I’m starving myself, although I have woken up super hungry the last few days despite a pre bed bowl of yogurt…
