  • Nice wallpaper

  • Been loving these vids of Spoony’s listening room https://www.instagram.com/reel/Cud8qB4o1wb/?igshid=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==

  • Fucking hell, that is a beast of a room and a beast of a dog!!

  • If that dog is real, Spoony is a dwarf and those are all 7 inches.

  • Anyone dealt with undergroundknowledge on discogs? They have a £15 minimum order value and there is a 12" I want that is £14.99. I have messaged them a couple of times to see if they can increase the price by 1p but had no response. Some of the negative feedback says communication is shite and there is quite a lot of neutral feedback. I wonder if anyone has had any dealings with them at all. The record is a good price and doesn't come up for sale that often.

  • Bought some stuff from them before, although not for a long time (couple of transactions in 2020). Records as described, including a sought after LP that was definitely at the top end of VG+ (as rated).

  • Thanks, maybe I'll have to add another record that I don't want to the order. Shame the comms are so poor

  • Not sure the best thread to post - but I've been trying to find any music from Men Called Him Mister from around 2008 (nostalgic chat in the pub that's turned into a bit of a micro-obsession).

The only remnants of them existing I can find is MySpace, where I guess their music was lost in the whole migration balls-up, or an archive listing from Mynt in Madrid, where they supported Foals (they were from Madrid).

My google-fu is failing me, any thoughts on where to try next? I don't think they ever released anything commercially

  • I get quite a few google results, for example -

..oops realised that's an album called "Men Called Him Mister", by Haywood.

  • Yeah I came across it too (and a very different vibe!)

  • If anyone wants two large boxes of mostly 90s/00s jungle & drum and bass:

  • PM incoming!

  • Spotted something odd, the daily email wantlist from discogs that actually gets sent to my email address is totally different to the wantlist message that is in my discogs message inbox (both sent at the same time).

I noticed it yesterday and is the same today. The email version always has a fairly similar set of records every time but the discogs inbox version has records on my want list that I don't think have ever been emailed through!!

Will have to check both from now on.

  • 😵
    Long gone?

  • Sorry yes, collected just this evening

  • All good, caught it a bit late eh

  • Rant incoming.

How hard is it to just always have on labels: ‘This’ and ‘That’?

Example I am looking at now. Picture label one side. Info label: a. [track name] aa. [track name]

    Ok…

    look at etchings

    A1 / B1.

  • Yup. And also the lack of standardisation which side has the picture, which side has the writing.

  • I’ve long since reconciled myself to the fact that usually the only way to differentiate side A from side B is to play the record. Even if it is stated, the text is usually microscopic. If you get lucky, there’s a different number of tracks on one side and you can count the grooves.

  • I also do not like it when all the track info is only on the sleeve.
