Carefully dry fit without marking it and then return if it doesn't work?
Yeah I think this might have to be the way. I’m handy enough that I reckon I’ll be able to make it work, but it’s a lot of pesos to commit.

Bend the top of the fitting over or chop it off. I have done this

Sweet. East fix, thanks!

How daft is it to risk this.......?

Very. If you want to fuck up the frame there are safer ways of doing it.

Well, given that the Kalloy SP248 is available in that diameter and colour and 400mm length, typically for under £20,it does seem like something only a fool would do.

Thanks, I'll save my frame and teeth then.

FTFY. A seat post collapse seems more a testicular hazard than a maxillofacial one.

I've got a long carbon post if you need? 27.2m zero-offset

That is what I do.

That would be brill. Send me the details please.

Does anybody know the outside BCD on Sugino White Industries cranks? I think it’s 5 x 94mm??? The bike they are on is buried at the back of the shed. I was hoping to not have to dig it out just yet. Especially if I can’t get a single speed ring big enough to use them.

Had some play in my Phil Wood front touring hub. Replaced bearings with some Easton cermaics and there’s still a tiny bit of play.
Tightened skewer but play still present. Anything else I can look at?

This advert says 94mm BCD.

I don't think there's any preload adjustment on those is there? (Thinking of Paul maybe) so check the bearings have been seated fully and make sure the end caps are tight enough.
-
• #4742
Ah sound yeah. 12nm on the end caps it says here:

Will try that before I set off home. -

It worked! Wonder if the bearings needed changed at all, but there’s ceramics in there now, lol.
-
• #4744
Coolio! One confirmation is good enough for me. Now to see if I can find a bigish SS ring.

Grx Shifter hose connectors ? Do they all use the same flange compression nut on bh90 hoses or will any copy one fit ?

My seatpost (31.6mm) keeps slipping. I am using a Hope clamp (35mm) and grease (carbon with particles) and my post still slips.
I cleaned the post with isopropanol, cleaned the seat tube with isopropanol. Applied a small amount of regular (white) grease on the inside of the clamp, alligned with the slits in the back of the frame (seat tube). Added a drop of loctite to the clamp-bolt. Greased the post generously with (carbon) grease, torqued the clamp to spec and... this mofo still keeps slipping.
Any ideas on a sturdier/better clamp? Maybe using (even) better grease?

Hope are well known for making shit seat post clamps

Which brand of carbon assembly paste are you using?
I was using a Weldtite one for a short time before I realised that the chonky particles did close to nothing. I ordered the Park Tool carbon paste which improved thing. The particles are finer and more plentiful, so I assume they have an easier time getting where they need to be.
Waterproof trousers don’t help keep the bike clean ;)
