I'm looking to sell a pair of Vittoria Corsa Control TLR G2.0 in 700x30. Does anyone fancy them? And any idea what a fair, forum friendly price would be? They've probably done absolute max 500km, only had one puncture on the rear and are in generally good condition, just a few tiny nicks here and there. Never got round to setting them up tubeless so no left over sealant or anything.
Edit: provisionally sold.

Ooh yes - just what I’ve been looking for my bob Jackson if they fit. Will pm

I just use them on my commuter so can't comment too much on speed, but they don't feel slow and seem to resist punctures fairly well until getting worn out. Generally more affordable than Contis! The tyre is completely slick by the way, no tread pattern at all.

I have just upgraded my GP5000's from 25mm to 28mm and I swear there is a noticeable improvement in speed. Not to mention no 'P' words yet.

"Noticeable"
The force is strong with this one, Obi Wan.

Given that you usually pump new tyres up to a decent pressure when you set them up, I'll go out on a limb and say your old ones were just not pumped up as hard by the time you removed them.
No way you'd feel the difference in 3mm all else equal -

It's called the "I have a shiny new thing, of course I'm going to ride it a bit faster" effect.
Possibly. Unofficially. -

Simpletons who can't detect subtle differences in their bike setup. 25mm > 28mm is 100% noticeable.

Bullshit. Double blind test or gtfo

It's a 25% increase in air volume. That's a significant increase.

your a... 25% increase in air volume
-
• #9888
And more volume = faster does it?
-
• #9889
Not on the front wheel it doesn't.
But for Crr I'm sure someone will chime in with some top hysteresis bants

According to the internet 4 watts at 40kmh improvement on a 28c tyre, crucially at the same pressure as the equivalent 25c.
Probably negated by the worse aero, at least on the front, as you say.Run them at a lower pressure and get some more comfort for no rolling resistance reduction sure, but noticeable increase in speed? Nah

Vittoria Open Pave 25 & 27 are £19.99 at the moment and have to be the cheapest 'good' tyre by a mile currently

But it's only 3mm, as you say.

But as it's a bigger tyre it'll be run at a lower pressure, so may have the same or less amount of air inside as the 25.... discuss

If I didn't pump my tyres up I'd have been riding around on my rims considering latex tubes.
-
• #9895
Ah in that case you're just imagining it 😁
-
• #9897
Am using the same tyre pressure - not sure how that effects thing
-
• #9898
touche.
I also note the increased comfort which may also be improving watts over distance.
Improvements seen over 60km Richmond Laps and 100km Surrey hills spin.
Apologies if this is making people uncomfortable.

A 28c tyre pressure should be a fair bit less than a 25c to be equivalent. That's why at the same pressure they roll faster. A 28c at 90psi is absurdly hard, a 25c at 90psi is fine. Equivalent will be pumping the 25s to 110ish.
Armchair rant over, sorry -

Is that not what I said?
Vittoria terreno dry or zero. Tufo speedero or thundero.
