I found the bike on marketplace and it really is bad. Trying to see if there is lock stop damage in the pics, but not clear. But the frame has a V5

Road trip today.!
Taking the Harley to Cardiff from London, overnight with a few beers there, and then off for another hundred miles or so to get boat to Rosslare and then a long ride to southwest Kerry on Wednesday .
Weather is a bit less than optimal.
My first long bike trip in a couple of decades. Last big one was over to the Nurburgring with me on a Hinckley bonneville, a mate on a hayabusa and another friend in a lancia delta intergrale. -

Oh that sounds very fun!
I hope you've got a good rain suit though, we're having rain here in Ireland at the moment that's worse than any monsoon rain I've experienced in Asia... I got caught out on Sunday morning and even in my "supposedly" waterproof gear I was like a wet rat when I got home :(
Otherwise though you'll have a glorious ride across to Kerry, if you're not in a wild rush I'd recommend sticking to the coastline from Cork City onwards, some really lovely scenery, roads and villages to pass through... also Ring of Kerry is a must once you get down there!
Enjoy the trip and post lots of pictures!

On the topic of waterproof gear (not a conversation I was hoping to have this summer)...
I've got Alpinestars Venture XT In-Boot pants and Akin Moto Alpha 2.0 jacket...
The jacket is supposed to be proper waterproof and I've discovered it's not been in this crazy rain we've been having lately... I reached out to Akin Moto on IG and they've actually offered me a half price Alpha 3.0 jacket which is supposedly much better waterproofedness and also has a removable thermal liner in it so I'm going to give that a shot, for half price it's cheap enough to be worth a go...
Akin Moto have just released a matching pair of In-Boot pants to go with the Alpha jacket which looks like my best bet at the moment but does anyone have any other recommendation for an In-Boot waterproof ADV style pant? The Alpinestars pants are only supposed to be water resistant so it's a bit unfair to have put them through this sort of weather... (The've actually been really good in normal showers but I also bought them a size too small and it's too late to return them if anyone would like to buy them off me for cheap... they're practically new but just a bit too tight for me)...
TLDR - Size M Alpinestars Venture XT In-Boot : €100 +postage

Seeing posts like this fills me with dread. Can’t imagine many taking a thou as a ‘first bike’ and not getting immediately out of shape.

The weather is a bit of a pain, somewhat bizarrely I was in Kerry last week and actually had to fly back to do this trip so was out in it a couple of times last week - Wednesday night in Waterville was like being in a car wash.
Probably going to go direct route via cork to Kerry and then ride some of the minor roads over the next couple of weeks.
We have a house just in from the Ring (pretty much at the west side of Bealach Óisin) so know the ring and have cycled most of the lesser known gems around Iveragh. -

My Aunt lives near Abbeyfeale and sends video of the rain from time to time. Most impressive. Has the same, coming from every direction, quality that we get here with the winter storms.

Just been quoted £4968.28 per year for insurance on a 748. Pretty much the same as the bike itself. Nightmare.

I did ~5 years on a low powered 700
Considered my self a seasoned rider (10k miles a year, all season for 3+ years)
Got the 1200 Trumpet (not a sports bike, but triple the BHP i was used to) and it taught me a few lessons early on.
Nearly binned it on the test drive because the throttle was so twitchy.
Still haven't turn TC off.Couldn't imagine going from a learner 600 Honda to a litre weapon and not getting acquainted with the first thing on the outside of the first bend.

Have the week off work so went up to Santa Pod to explore the green lanes. Have a feeling I'm going to feel sore tomorrow.
