  • Offer expired, the Timex Expedition North one that feel quite unrefined.

  • How are you getting all this main court action?! Teach me your ways, sensei!!! 8 straight years of not getting anything in either the public or club ballot is getting a tad frustrating! 😞

    Also, lovely watch!

  • If you fail in the public ballot you get access to the returned tickets site. Keep refreshing that over the course of a few weeks and trying to add tickets to your basket when they come up (pretty often tickets show as available but can't be added to basket) and you've a pretty good chance of getting something.

Sadly I forgot to take any watch pictures even though I was there on a Friday.

  • Quick thread derail follows

I’m Secretary of Seniors Tennis GB, a voluntary organisation delegated and part-funded by the LTA to manage and develop competitions and teams and promote and increase tennis participation of players of all standards aged 30 years and over. As part of that I get the chance to buy tickets. This year I had the bonus of getting invited to the LTA Presidents Lunch, fully catered and watered in a hospitality suite (and I didn’t hold back). Final day today, just waiting for Rune-Dimitrov.

But yes to keep checking for returned tickets although queueing for a Ground Pass in the first week is usually great value (if if doesn’t rain of course) as I’d prefer the il close intimacy of the outside courts over the main show courts (unless you are low down/close up and then they are hard to beat).

Also look out for other tournaments - signing up to the LTA Newsletter is good for getting on things early, BJK Cup in Coventry a couple of months ago was great and really looking forward to David Cup in Manchester in September

Ok, off to spam up the Wimbledon thread!!!

  • Just skim-catching up on a week or two of this thread. I don't think this post got the rep it deserved.

  • Heh, I forgot about that. Thanks. :)

  • First new watch for me in quite a while, the result of idly opening a Creation Watches email and seeing a discount code for Citizen, which I’ve been meaning to try for ages now.

So I picked up a Promaster Eco-Drive diver in olive green. Really impressed with this for £161, it’s very nicely made.

  • Saw that too in the Hodinkee newsletter.
Quite like it. As much as the Longines

  • Felt bold so had a go at a diy job with this bracelet, some of the gouges are quite deep and I didn’t want to go too far just wanted to get it presentable, pretty pleased.

  • That makes more sense than one of those jobs where stuff looks new afterwards.
Its incredible what people achieve with laser welding and polishing, but if the watch isn't completely fucked I don't get it.

  • looks good. whats the technique?

  • cheers, the hardest bit was messing with the folded centre links bc as well as the scuffs they'd been stretched in whatever shenanigans happened. I was able to move some around (not easy as you have to bend them out) and managed to squeeze the others in tighter. For the finish the worst bits got 150 grade wet and dry, then the main weapon was a pack of scourers in a couple of grades that i got for less that a fiver at toolstation - scotchbrite pads basically. Just rubbed along straight lines avoiding the coronet in one direction and job's a good un. Quite satisfying, particularly as this bracelet came as an unexpected freebie with a watch so really sweetened the deal. Had a quick google and there's one up for £3K on ebay! It's a jingly jangly 9315 with misspelt 'pateted' stamped divers extension.

  • What’s a reasonable price for a OG 2 liner Pelagos?

  • Quite nice from Baltic, available in different colours of course.

  • £2-2.5k?

  • The silver faced one with the blued hands and accents is my favourite

  • I seem to have a thing for blue hands. Yeah that also is a lovely example
