Ah, buttons good in rain!

For example, it won't work on the standard K-Edge front mount
Thankfully, the 1030 Plus came with an out front mount and some other stem type things too.

How many weird GPSs did you buy before finally coming around to The Truth and the Light? :D

Hey guys, did you know the Garmin 1030 and Garmin 1030 Plus come with an out-front mount? Wow, thanks Garmin!

The 800 just came with a lifetime supply of bands! Behold, decade old and no doubt perished.

Nah, they seem to last forever! I still use them from various Garmins. I mostly prefer the out-front mounts and the Garmin ones are very good.

Does anyone make an out front garmin mount for 26.0 bars? Need a new one and would prefer not to shim if possible
-
• #2959
One. Stages dash. And I got it refunded as it didn't work. They don't seem to sell them any more so it clearly wasn't just me!
I also bought two phones, an old Samsung, which blew up after a wet ride in Wales, and a ruggedised HomTom or whatever its called, which still works fine as a back up / my wife uses it.
Total cost was about £150 and it gave me loads of fun trying all the gadgets.
Also a garmin 1030 which I sold as the bleached screen made me feel depressed when riding in the dark, so probably lost another £80 on that. Actually no, I think I bought it when wiggle has some big sale on and sold it for about what I bought it for :)
And a wahoo, which I returned.
And maybe the odd other one that I've forgotten about.

Don't the standard Garmin ones come with a massive shim for skinnier bars? They lock in place though so they're not a fugly shim like an offcut of tube or whatever.

So, loads. :P
Everyone always comes around to my way, eventually. :D
Next step will be disc brakes, dynamo and Di2...

A warning for those using mobiles as sat navs on their bikes. Someone here had theirs nicked as they were riding

Anyone had this Garmin problem where your device seems to sync with your phone but activities don't show up?
Seems to be a lot of stuff online about it but most of it is about corrupted fit files which I don't think is the issue here.
It's Mrs m_v's Edge 25. If I connect it to the pc with the cable it syncs fine and activities then show up on both her phone and the Connect site but just syncing the Edge to the phone, nada.

Anyone bought a replacement strap for their garmin? Seems the silicone strap is giving me a rash.

I've had at least half a dozen straps for my Fenix. I find the Garmin ones most comfortable but they are a bit soft and wear through. Loads of aftermarket ones on eBay, some are better than others but are cheap so low risk. Nylon (solid or webbing) or metal if silicone doesn't work for you.

Thanks webbing nylon sounds better. It's odd it's not bothered me, but maybe with the heat or so, I've got blisters and swelling.

I switched to leather for a while as I had the same issue. In the end cheap no-brand straps from amazon also didn't give me a rash. Not sure what the issue is but I won't touch a genuine strap any more.

Same experience (not the leather bit). Although I do wash the new strap frequently in case that helps.
Also tried a woven metal strap ('Milanese style'?) from eBay. More breathable but didn't last.

Odd so common. Anyway one night with watch off and it's better. Actually looked at my straps and one of my Chris ward Tide ones fits perfect, which is ideal as it's very comfy.

Garmin suggested I stop wearing it when I sweat...

I had a bad rash from a Fitbit strap but no issues with the Garmin. Seems like people react
differently to the specific toxins. -

Classic!

Random question - is the fact that my garmin isn't recording distance in any way connected to the fact that I was also recording on strava on my phone? Happened both ways of my journey yesterday.
-

When I first got my Fenix I had a rash from the strap. 8months later and I don’t get it any more. Whenever it appeared I would just take the watch off overnight or whilst at my desk and put some bepanthen on.

Interesting one. It's unlikely to be a GPS issue as a GPS receiving device has a lock on three satellites but has no way of knowing if other devices in the vicinity are also locked on the same three satellites. I've definitely recorded rides with two separate devices before, occasionally more (used to work for a sports device vendor so did a lot of pre-release testing).
It could possibly be the Strava or Garmin apps, but seems unlikely.
I'd reboot the Garmin and see if I can get it to record distance first.
Yes, but it didn't have all the buttons. I think the new 840 does, so might go for that.
I basically like buttons but want the screen scroll
