Considering how small this road is, I don't understand how this can happen.

Automatic gearbox, and a crap driver (or perhaps incapacitated in some way) stomps the accelerator instead of the brake. Powerful engine, gearbox optimised for acceleration, 2 tons+ of momentum and before the driver has a chance to react, the tank has done 100 metres at 40 mph :(
